Hello everybody! We have been to Disney a few times in the past but we have always either had our own car or rented one. Because this is our first time using DME, I would appreciate any advice you guys can give me.

I know that DME doesn't go from one resort to another (e.g., we are staying at CBR, but have reservations at Boma) and I have read that the best thing to do is go to DD and transfer buses from there. Is this the best way?

Also, how much time should you allow to get to the parks?

Finally, what do you do if you are using DME and want to go to another Orlando park? Do you cab it there and back or take advantage of a car rental that brings a car to you (I think Enterprise does that).

Any tricks and tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Okay let me clear a few things up.

DME is a transportation service to the resorts from the Airport and back again. DME does not transport between parks or resorts or DTD. If you reserve DME to take you to the resort form the airport you will get luggage tags. DME employees will get your luggage and deliver it to your resort where it will then be delivered to your room. Meanwhile, you ride a nice comfortable bus to yoru resort.

As far as transportation between resorts you would use WDW transportation. These look much like city buses. You will get WDW transportation info when you check in. You can also check out this site. It will tell you the best way to get to your destination whether by bus, monorail or boat. Just plug in where you are and where you are going.

Not sure about going to other Orlando parks except that there is public bus service from TTC to Sea World.

DME - Disney's Magical Express - is SOLELY transportation between the airport and the various Walt Disney World hotels.

You're actually asking about Disney Transportation.

The best way to get from one resort to another using Disney transportation in most cases is to take a bus to the most convenient park to the two locations, and change there. In your example, CBR is close to Epcot and MGM; AKL is close to Animal Kingdom. I'd just get on whichever of the three buses came to CBR first, and switch there.

Going back, depending on the time you might be able to do the same thing in reverse, or, yes, you might have to use Downtown Disney as your change location.

Note that some resorts have monorail or boat transporation - to get to the Polynesian, for example, you could either bus to MGM/Epcot then bus to Polynesian, or bus to MK then monorail or boat to Polynesian.
