How long has the average wait been for luggage via DME from the airport to the All Stars? The website says up to 3 hours. Is this still right or is it shorter or longer than that?

The whole idea is that you don't have to wait at all. There's no waiting at baggage claim, because Disney takes control of the bags "behind the scenes" at the airport. And there's no waiting at the hotel because the bags are placed into your room while you're out having fun.

Just remember to take a carry-on with anything you'll want right away, along with the usual fragile items, medicines, and valuables.

Disney says to allow up to three hours after you check in for your bags to be delivered. Again, there's no reason to "wait" during this time.

I've used DME a number of times. Usually, I was out of the room when the bags were delivered, so I don't know how long it took after I checked in. Twice I was in the room, and the bags were delivered less than an hour after I checked in. Once I returned to the room 7 or 8 hours after checking in; the bags weren't there; I called bell services; they apologized that they were running behind and quickly showed up with the bags. (None of these experiences were at All Stars.)

It makes sense the bags take longer to get to the room than the guest. You could be on a DME motorcoach while the airline is still unloading the aircraft. Bags need to be sorted and sent on trucks to the right hotels. Once the bags get there, they need to be delivered by a limited number of bell services CMs or luggage assistance CMs, who are also taking care of a lot of other bags.

But, seriously, don't be concerned about the "wait" for bags when using DME. Again, the whole idea is to eliminate waiting around for bags.

I agree; the whole idea is to let someone else worry about your bags.

I used to arrive the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and I think I waited less time. Now, I go the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I wait signficantly longer for my bags. But I have everything I need in my day bag for the entire day, and I leave my day bag at Baggage Services at POR and, slap on my backpack, then go off to the parks. When I come back for dinner, I know my bags will be in my room.......

Just make sure you have any medications needed with your in your day bags.

Leave the worry to Disney!

Depends on how much luggage there is to move and where it's going. Let's say you arrive at MCO at 11:00 am. You get to your resort, All Stars, at 12:15..that would be a reasonable expectation. So, you get checked in by 12:30...you can now expect your bags to 'magically' appear in your room by 3:30. But, I have had to wait longer than that at POP....our bags didn't get to us for almost 5 hrs!!! But one time, at BWV, we got checked in, our villa was ready (a major surprise since it was only 1:30), and there was a knock on our door at about 2:10...it was our bags!!

You may get lucky and have your bags in your room quickly, shortly after you checkin. But, you may have to wait a few hours. I always recommend packing a carryon bag with anything you will need for the first 6 hrs of your stay. Then, you can change your clothes and head out to the parks as soon as you get checked in.

As I wrote earlier in this thread, nobody really has to "wait" for bags.

For people arriving at MCO during the day, it really should not matter if the bags are delivered 1 hour or 3 hours after check-in -- if the bags won't be needed until night time (or ideally the next morning) anyway. Why is one "lucky" to get the bags sooner?

Exactly!

Well, perhaps there is something in their checked baggage that they weren't able to put into their carryon bag...and they need that to start their vacation. If they were to get their bags only an hour after checking in, they would be lucky, right?

I agree though....there really is no 'overall' need to sit around and wait for those bags to arrive. I've had to do it because my idiot eldest dd didn't believe me when I told her to pack what she would need in her carryon bag. So we had to sit and wait close to 5 hrs for her bags to get to the room...I was not a happy mommy!!! That was the only time, in over 20 trips, that I did not go to a park on my arrival day. Not good!!!
