DME luggage tagging question

We are leaving for WDW on Sat. and it will be our first time using DME. We are flying Southwest (not official air-line). I would like to pick up my own luggage when I get to MCO. We are arriving later in the evening and I would free more comfortable taking my own luggage on the bus with us.

From what I understand we will get off the plane, collect our luggage and then proceed to the Magical Express Desk with our vouchers. From there we will get on the next bus to POR. Is there anything I am missing?

Also if I am picking up my own luggage from MCO do I need to put on the yellow luggage tags?

Thanks!!

If you want to pick up your own luggage simply leave the yellow tags off, collect it and take it to DME, and they will load it under the bus for you. ;)

Exactly what K&K said. If you do put the DME tags on, you won't be able to pick up your own luggage because it will already be pulled behind the scenes and won't appear on the baggage claim carousel.

If you're arriving very late, like one of the last flights of the night, you might want to stop at the DME counter first to tell them you're going to get your luggage and come back. Do this just in case they see on their computer screens there are no more inbound flights and then they think it's OK to shut down for the night while you're at baggage claim waiting for your luggage.
