DME after sleeping in airport hotel

Our flight is arriving around 10:30 pm on a Monday night. We are thinking of staying at the airport that night to save money as we can get a Hilton chain room for free with points. None of these are directly inside the airport. They are about 6-7 miles away but do have shuttles to/from the airport.

So my question is this: can I take a shuttle from say the Embassy suites back to the airport early on Tuesday morning and still be able to access the entrance for magical express to go to our Disney resort? Then to the parks? If you’ve done this before, what was your experience? Did it work smoothly or did you wish you’d just gone straight to your room the night before?

We did something like this but in reverse. When you reserve your Magical Express, put in a flight number that arrives around whatever time you would like to be picked up. Just look on the airline's site, check the arrival times (for the next day since yours arrives @ 10:30pm) and put that information NOT the true flight.

When we did the reverse, we were going on a DCL cruise and wanted to take the ME to the airport and then we took the Disney bus to the Port. I put an the flight number for a flight that was leaving MCO @ 10 am and so they picked us up from Yacht Club @ 7am and we got to the airport around 8:30/9am and then went to the cruise bus area.

Yes, you can do this. Lots of people do. Just tell DME what time you expect to be back at the airport the next morning.

I never waste my time looking for these fake flights. Just call DME directly at 866-599-0951. Do not call the Disney 407 Magical Express number. The direct line will quickly connect you to a knowledgeable agent who understands how DME reservations work in practice. The Disney CMs may or may not really know, and only know they must have flight information. Once connected to the DME agent, have your resort reservation number and travel dates for the required airport transfer(s) handy. Just tell the agent you want to go from MCO to your resort on (date) about (time). They have individuals who ride DME without arriving on a flight all the time (returning a rental can, returning from a cruise, whatever). Similarly, you can arrange transportation from resort back to MCO without a flight number (I sometimes do this to pick up a rental car when rates are lower from MCO than from locations on property) by indicating the approximate time you want to arrive back at MCO.
