Hello,
We are in the midst of planning our first trip to WDW w/ our 4 year old. Oir plane arrives to Orlando Intl at 9.40 PM. DME says they will have your bags delivered to your room w/in three hours of arrival.... which for us means close to 1.00 AM. Is the three hour timeline in effect even for late night flights? What has been everyone's experience with this?

Thanks! :goodvibes

Yep, it's pretty standard no matter what time you fly. You could always choose to not use the tags and grab your luggage yourself and they will load it onto the bus for you.

Yes, it can be up to 3 hours from check in, but you do have some options.

#1 Don't use the yellow DME tags and pick up your own luggage from baggage claim before going to the DME check in desk.

#2 Ask bell services to hold your luggage until the morning. You can call to have it delivered in the am. You can pack what you need in your carry on and go from there.

It can be done and the DME service is such a great thing.

Best of luck planning.

Our bags were delivered to us at about 1am... It wasn't a problem though, we were asleep, and I remember being aware of some movement by the door, thinking 'oh that's our bags' and going straight back to sleep again. Was so nice not to have to worry about them.

Sadly can't let Disney collect them on this trip as we've got a direct international flight, and have to take them through custums ourselves.

Go for it... we would let Disney pick up our bags everytime if we could!

You should be able to still use the luggage service part of DME. After you take your luggage through custom, you then put your luggage back into the system it gets taken to the normal carousels. DME cast will still pick it up if it has the yellow tags.

Oh cunning... wonder if it's worth it, after we've already waited for it... although there are two baggage reclaim things at Orlando aren't there?

In any event, be sure to pack a carryon with anything you may need until the next day...clean clothes, pj's, that sort of thing. It's not so much a DME thing as a 'what if the airline misdirects the bags' thing.
