We've done DLRP 3 times now and loved it, but we're just back from our first trip to WDW and are in need of a bit of disney to look forward to again!

So the question is, will we be disappointed with DLRP going back there after WDW? There's a lot to love at DLRP but we have done nearly everything there already.

Has anyone else done DLRP before and after WDW and if so did you still really love DLRP?

We've done DLRP afrter WDW and I think if you know it's not as big and exciting you can still have a great time, it's still disney after all and some of the magic is still there. We went when oldest DS was 6 after he had been to WDW and he was a bit disappointed as he had very high expectations. There atr still great rides and shows and you don't have to deal with the long flight. I'm just in the planning of an adults only trip to DLRP at and of Jan and i'm looking forward to it as i know i'm not going back to WDW next year so i'll still get my disney fix

We've done DLPR after WDW too. Me personally I wouldn't ever go back to DLPR. Don't get me wrong it wasn't horrible or anything but there's no contest on the Disney 'wow' feeling, the friendliness of our friends the Americans and the sheer size and variety of what's on offer in Orlando. My DW loves to do DLPR at Christmas when all the decs are up and it's cold. Can't imagine Christmas in the heat! :rotfl:

Since I have been to WDW I now appriciate how pretty and well themed DLRP is in comparison to the MK, I really don't understand the critism towards DLRP. :confused3

Oh dont get me wrong, I fully agree that what there is of DLRP is generally better than WDW. Everything does look just a little more pretty (the castle especially). The rides are better, the parade/fireworks are better - and the parade music a million times better (wdw parade music is so disappointing - not one parade/fireworks show had music memorable enough to want it on cd).

But in my heart I fear I'll always think of it now as "not quite the real thing". The strange cross american / french language thing (the way some rides have french names in a supposedly american style park) bugs me quite a lot, and just the way its so much smaller.

Been to DLRP a number of times, once after Disneyland - found it just as good as DLRP ever was/is. I do however prefer going to DLRP just before Christmas, the decs and cold weather make it really festive. Maybe this may help - add another dimension to the trip?

personally (this is my own opinion) i have been to dlrp a few times now and i have decided i shall definately not be going again, we have just got back from wdw and in my opinion it does not compare, we have not had the best of trips to dlrp last time we all (5 of us) had the disney bug and were really ill, the people (staff) are not as friendly and when we went to there halloween night my little boy nearly got crushed where the stage is in the shopping area. also agree with the above post the fireworks are not worth mentioning, we were very disappointed.

i would rather save up the extra bit and go to wdw:thumbsup2 we had a great time, cleanliness, friendliness not only of staff but a lot of the people we met, and the weather in september was boiling, plus there is so much more to do.

If you're refering to my post then I think you've misread. I meant the fireworks at DLRP were better (well Wishes anyway, I've not seen the new ones yet). DLRP's with the aid of the projections was much more of a story, where as WDW seems to be more about filling the sky with fireworks and loud bangs.

But you're definitely right about the people. The French could learn a lot from the Americans about making their guests feel welcome!

Yes but DLRP only has fireworks for a couple of months of the year. I was most disappointed when we went there was no fireworks as that is my favorite part of the day.

Have to say I am not in a hurry to rush back - unfriendly CM's and weather that is too similar to home just do not do it for me. Also it would be nice if they gave their CM's more training on pin trading as they were trying to encourage it in the shops etc but some the CM's didn't seem to know the rules :confused3 If I hadn't I would have missed out on a pin I wanted as the CM was refusing to trade and then tried to tell what pin he wanted - doesn't work like that!!:sad2:

Well for every criticism someone makes at DLRP I could make another for WDW, as WDW is not without is share of negative aspects however as I like both parks I am not going to bother!

If you've been to DLRP before, you know what to expect. As long as you don't go with OTT expectations, and don't expect it to be just like WDW, then I am sure you'll have a great trip. After all, it's still Disney!

My DW loves to do DLPR at Christmas when all the decs are up and it's cold. Can't imagine Christmas in the heat! :rotfl:
That's when I love Disneyland Paris, too. For me, there is nothing better than wrapping up warm with our scarves and gloves and experiencing the Christmas magic and snow on Main Street at the Disneyland Park, with a hot chocolate or two along the way. Staying at the Disneyland Hotel is just perfect during the holiday season, too - so easy to go back for a few hours warming up and chilling out. The Holiday season decorations in both the parks and the hotel are stunning. We love it.

My personal opinion is that you will be disappointed by dlrp after a trip to wdw. There was a long delay at the airport last time we went to dlrp and familys got to talking and all 4 familys said they would never return to dlrp basically the rudeness of staff and other guests had astounded us all.
My main issues were around poor planning and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. ( My ds has aspergers and eye cancer the cms were put out by our requests for help and made it quite clear that we were a nuisance - only wanted a seat where he would be able to see the shows!!)
I agree that wdw has its flaws but at least the warm weather and cheap food goes a long way in keep ing a smile on your face !!!

I've got to disagree with a lot of the thoughts on here, having been to both a few times - I have never found the staff at DLRP rude/lacking the magic etc. DLRP is different holiday - its a short break after all not a big holiday location, unless you combine it with Paris etc...

I went to WDW in Jan and am going back to DLRP before xmas. There were a lot of aspects of WDW (in particular the Magic Kingdom) that I was disapointed with and missed parts of DLRP in Jan (although I had a fab time overall!!!).

You have to look at DLRP differently...why dont you have a look at the trip reports on the Disneyland Paris thread??

We have been to WDW a few times and spent 5 days at DLRP in Nov, and loved it to pieces ::yes::! It's just different, but it's still Disney and we weren't disappointed in the slightest, in fact we were happily surprised!

There are pluses and minuses about DLRP but it is very pretty, and quite of a few of the attractions are better than WDW. Much better! We don't really need to compare the two destinations because we have a great time at both and can appreciate both for what they are.

We happened to plan our first visit during the Christmas season and it was so magical, and cold, and romantic and scary and fun :goodvibes ! We had a blast and can't wait to go back, after our upcoming trip to WDW this Nov/Dec! This time we will visit DLRP when spring is in bloom :goodvibes.

If I could only visit one, I would choose WDW, but if I don't have to choose, then I'll have both thanks ;) !
