I swear I saw this thread awhile ago, but I seem to be unable to find it anywhere! I've received my WDW acceptance email today and I'm still waiting for my DLR email. But I want to decide which I would rather participate in. Does anyone know the pros and cons of each? Or is there anything you want to say about each? :D THANKS

I've only been to WDW, but I can imagine it would be better than DLR because it's bigger, there's more to do and more people to meet. And even though you get paid more in DLR it's only because the cost of living is higher, so the pay is about even in both places. So it really comes down to would you rather be in California or Florida.

Actually, pay for California-Site DIP Participants is set by the Collective Bargaining Agreement in place for their Line of Business (or Company Compensation Policies in the case Hourly Non Union Cast Members), so it's ever so slightly more in line with the cost of living than in Florida.

There are many difference between the two sites, but I think the most notable ones are:

California-Site Disney Internship Programs does not offer Company-sponsored transportation, but all Participants are able to receive Company-sponsored Orange County Transporation Authority bus passes.

Internship Education Classes are mandatory, unlike in Florida.

There are nowhere near as many Participants as in Florida, and CBA stipulations have placed a cap on the total number of Participants at any time, which may or may not be more favourable for you.

Of those Participants, many if not most do remain in a Casual Regular (Part Time) position with the Company afterwards, so if that's a goal for you perhaps you'd be interested.

And the most important one, IMO, is that there are significantly more opportunities in other divisions of the Company in California than in Florida. Most of the activities of the Disney Organization in Florida are related to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. In California, you have access to The Walt Disney Studios, Corporate, etc. If your goals lay within the areas covered by one of those organizations, you have a much easier time of networking than you would in Florida.

IF I get accepted to both, I'll be choosing CA over FL for many reasons -- most of which were already listed in this thread.

WDW has more Disney stuff and takes more people, which is good. But, since I'm doing the program directly after graduation, I'd rather do the program somewhere where I might stay a year or two. CA has better options for non-Disney housing (which would be my ideal situation) with an easier commute and more non-Disney stuff that interests me in case I can't transfer to part-time after the program. Plus! Comic Con and D23!

im wanting to go to WDW first cause i was alredy a CM at DLR last year for like 6 months cause i had to move back home. but if i dont get into WDW and into DLR i will definately take it.
but as a CM at DLR was alot of fun i didnt like what i did. i was a custodial busser(if anyone applied for that bad idea unless you like washing dishes and have no guest interaction) but you can get discount tickets for like universal studios and seaworld and even legoland.
And dont Forget DLR was the first! haha

I was accepted to WDW, although I'm waiting to hear a reply from DLR as well. Pretty much all the points mentioned in this thread is why I'd prefer DLR>WDW. Hope we hear soon!:goodvibes

Plus! Comic Con and D23!

That's the same thing I thought! Although by this point I'd only be able to get tickets for Sunday since all the other days are sold out. (for CC at least)
