Hello, everyone! I'm planning to call 1st thing Friday morning for a 5night split stay at Grand Californian when the 7 month window opens up. This is our 1st DVC reservation. It's for July 6-11. 1st 3 nights in 1 BDR & last 2 nights in studio. What are my chances? Would it be too early to also request certain room numbers to get the view I want? Also, my 6 year old will be able to enjoy the kids club, but will they allow our almost 3 year old? Thank you for any feedback!

You have a better chance online at 8:00am eastern.

Not sure for the time of year you're traveling, however, we were able to snag a one bdrm VGC for this past mid January (2013) at the 7 month window and then I was even able to add an extra day about three weeks after the 7 month window. Good luck!!

There is availability right now, but you need to use the 1 hour online booking advantage if your days are set. By kids club, do you mean Pinocchio's Workshop? If so, the minimum age is 5. You need to make sure to make your reservation right away as they only accept 12 children.

100% agree. Book on line, don't wait to call. Could make the difference between getting what you want or not.

Want to add - once you get your reservation, call MS (or email them) with your room request (by room numbers if you know them) ASAP. The prevailing theory is they assign rooms first come first served, so ask as soon as you can. Give them a list, in order of preference, and not just one room number.

Thank you so much, everyone! I was going to call because this is my first reservation experience. But after reading the responses, I will go online! :)

You could practice the on line booking process before your 7 month window date.

Make sure you know your way around the site, and in fact, you could even "book" a room w/o following all the way through to the end of the process so you don't end up with it!

On the day of your real booking, log in early and have the VGC and your date input as the 8am opening comes. I have mine open and keep hitting refresh to make sure I can get in as soon as DVC opens the booking day.

Good luck to you!

Thanks breayan! Friday was the 7 month window. I tried booking online at 5am )I'm pacific time- I even called on sick so This would work!). The screen kept saying don't push back button or refresh for 1 hour & 15 minutes! I called MS but because I wanted the 1st 3 nights to be 1BDR then last 2 nights studio, the CM recommended studio booking due to limited studios left. Yesterday I modified to the type of villas on the days I wanted. It worked! Hurray! :)

You're going to love VGC! Our first visit was last January and we just can't wait to go back! We were there for five days, but, still feel we want to explore both CA and DL lots more and also just relax and explore the GC!
