Hello everyone! I've been a Dis lurker for a long time since I've been planning trips to WDW for a long time but now will definitely (maybe) be going in January! Yeah! To share my excitement, I decided to try a pre-trip report and hope it goes well and keeps you interested!

Disney background: Growing up, my parents took us girls on 2 trips a year. Every year it was the same thing. During the summer, it was Disneyland and during the fall, it was the Grand Canyon. Although the trips to the Grand Canyon were fun, they were nothing compared to Disneyland! We had close friends of the family that lived in Anaheim and we stayed with them every year. We did the usual beaches and Knott's Berry Farm too but we always looked forward to Disneyland. When my sisters and I got older, we didn't go to Disney so much as a family but I continued making trips with my then best friend every February since we had birthdays so close together. It was fun for the first couple of days but then it always ended with us not speaking to each other for weeks after. Then my nephew was born and my sister found a reason to go again. She lives in SoCal and she and my nephew were annual passholders once but I have been the one wanting to go again and again and dragging my nephew to go with me (who of course had no complaints). But now, I seriously am ready to move up into the world and really SEE the World!

More background regarding trip: I've been planning on a trip to WDW for about 2 years now. The main people I wanted to come was my sister and her son and my parents. My other sister has just started a family of her own and I knew they wouldn't make it for a while. Well, every time I planned and booked, something came up and it just didn't happen. This went on about 4 times. Then this past Labor Day was the straw that broke the camel's back! Since the beginning of the year, I made a goal that every time I had holidays off (I work for a community college), I would take a vacation. It didn't exactly go very well. Back in March, I spent a few days up north during spring break. I was just finishing a cold and ended up getting a serious ear infection while up there. It was not very fun at all! But, I did take one good vacation later in April with my sister and her family and we went to DLR for a couple of days. But nothing after that. I always got stuck watching the dogs. Then this past Labor Day, my parents deserted me and went to San Diego for 2 weeks, my sis and her family went up north and dropped off their 2 puglies (aka Devil Dogs) for me to watch. Four days of dog heck! I was miserable. Then shortly after, I went to see my eye doctor and I have to have eye surgery...again...for the 8th time!! :headache:
That's it! I'm going to WDW and I don't care who comes with me!

Dates of visit: January 17th-24th.
Reasons: I originally planned to go the second week of December because my mom and I really wanted to see the Christmas decorations. My surgery was scheduled the beginning of November and that left plenty of time for recovery before going on a week long trip across the US. But then a few days later, Dr. called and said he is pushing back the date to the end of November (day before Thanksgiving to be exact). That would not be enough recovery time! To minimize my usage of vacation hours we decided on MLK week. It won't be hot (we hate hot!) and low crowds (hopefully).

Just to let you know of who we are.
Intoductions:

Me- I am 32, single and still living with the folks! Yep, someone's got to be there to keep them from killing each other. Seriously, I love my parents. I've had to deal with a lot of health problems in my life and they take care of me. I am visually impaired and although can still work and get around on my own (usually), I can't drive. Which makes them part-time chauffers. Gets annoying sometimes having to rely on someone but they are very good about not making an issue about it.
I love fantasy and sci-fi and old scary movies. My favorite rides are: Big Thunder Mtn, Peter Pan and the Haunted Mansion (including the NMBC overlay). At CA, I love Soarin' (of course) and the Aladdin show.

Mom-wonderful mother of 3 daughters (i'm in the middle...please no jokes..I've heard them all). We are very much alike which leads to a lot of arguments but she's still great. I tell her everything and she's good about keeping a secret...even from my Dad. ;)
Her favorites: POTC, Soarin' and the Aladdin show.

Dad-although I'm not as close to my Dad as my Mom, he is still a great guy. Hard-worker, very smart and can have some great conversations with. He's also good for the occasional $20. He said he is not going with us as he wants to save his vacation time for something else. I don't know why because he only has like a gazillion vacation hours and all he ever goes to is San Diego. But my Mom is going to try and convince him.
Dad's favorites: really anything but he enjoys going on Indiana Jones with my nephew.

*I tried to convince my sister to let my nephew to miss a couple days of school so he could come with us but she flatly refused...she's mean! She said I could take him anytime during the summer though...yeah right...but I probably will. He is a Star Wars freak (and so are most of us) and those weekends look fun.

Next: Hotel decision and ADR's.
