Hi all! :wave2:

We'll be traveling to DLR from San Diego in about a week. We'll be arriving at check-in time at CCI in the afternoon. We were thinking about driving to Huntington Beach that afternoon and evening since we don't have park tickets for our arrival day.

Is there a preferred route ya'll have used before for DLR to Huntington? Also, it has been many years since we've visited Huntington Beach can anyone recommend a good restaurant for dinner?

Thanks!

I am sure there are better/fasters ways but this is how we usually go.

From the CCI you will turn right onto Harbor Blvd, the Right again onto Katella. Go up Katella for several miles, then left onto Beach Blvd and keep going. Just like its name it will run into Huntington Beach.

We plan on hitting Slatters 50/50 when we are there in August. HaVe never been there. But my daughter and son-in-law saw it on the Travel Channel and asked if we could go.

If you are going to the beach, you could eat at Ruby's at the end of the pier. Or Duke's, it's on the beach near the entrance to the pier. I've never been, but it looked like a nice place when I walked by.

I like Mario's Mexican on Beach & Main. I don't know if I'm just a fan because it brings back so many memories of my childhoood, but it has decent reviews on Yelp.

It's nothing fancy, it's in a strip center a few doors down from Trader Joe's.

I ate at Duke's a few years ago. When thinking of most memorable meals, this one always comes to mind. Food was delicious, the friends I was with made for wonderful conversations and laughs, and we watched the sunset over the ocean. Brings back warm, fuzzy feelings just thinking about it!

I like Slaters, but I find it's 50/50 (get it?) on people's opinion. The meat is pinkish, but thats due to the bacon. It's a $10 burger, but I've only done it a few times. Btw, they do have other items besides burgers.

That drive sounds good to me. We're not really in any hurry that day.

Man, I looked up Slaters 50/50. Wow! I don't know if my heart could take the bacon comtent in that burger, but it sounds delish. The rest of their menu looked great, too.

Thanks for the tips. :)

We love Ruby's. Food is great and atmosphere wonderful. Paring can be a problem around the pier area so be patient. Going straight down beach is a best bet. Parking is straight ahead. Enter lot there and go to the right to get near the pier.
