DLR Snowballing: A 3 in 1 PTR

We did quite a bit! I'm always amazed at how much we've been doing when we go out there. It's amazing what new knees and a hip can do for you!

I rode Star Tours, Space Mountain, the Matterhorn, Nemo Subs and we both went on the Haunted Mansion. She did a lot of shopping and we had lunch at Cafe Orleans. I was exhausted by the time we got home at 9PM and it has thrown me off for the whole week!

My parents are coming down today and we're having dinner at Napa Rose tomorrow night!

Yay! For DW being to eat normal foods again! BTW we're going to be in the Bay Area for Thanksgiving.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: For Fran's new knees and improved QOL! It sounds like you had a fun day. How cool to take your parents to the Napa Rose! Any chance of pictures (hint hint)?

As far as I know, we'll be in the Bay Area of Thanksgiving as well. :cool1: Let's have a mini Dis meetup.

Welcome! Glad you are joining us.

Today is Day 7 of our 10 day countdown.

Exactly one week until our Gay Days trip! :yay::yay:

franandaj has inspired me with her photos of visits to the Napa Rose. I chatted with my mom on the phone yesterday and we're sending my sister and her husband to the Napa Rose during our family trip next year.

Here's some background. My sister is a wonderful mom to three great kids. But she sometimes forgets to take time for herself. The last day of our trip will be her wedding anniversary. We're going to make a reservation and get a gift card and just tell her she's going, no ifs ands or buts. :goodvibes And there will be four adults left behind to look after her three children so no worries there either. I love surprises! Especially surprises planned 9 months in advance. :rotfl:

Of course I will have food porn on the PTR! I just have to finish up the previous trip(s) then I will get to tonight, but it was awesome as expected! It's always much more fun when Andrew Sutton himself is there!

Oh, that sounds excellent. :) Was this your parents' first trip to Napa Rose?

Does Andrew Sutton remember you from the cooking classes at Food and Wine?

Today is Day 6 of our 10 day countdown.

Woke up this morning and watched a video of Splash Mountain, just to get pumped up for our trip in SIX days!

Splash Mountain: Enjoy!

Now off to start a typical weekend day...going to the laundromat and the Farmers Market. :thumbsup2

Today is Day 5 of our 10 day countdown.

We have stayed at the Grand Californian twice before. (Aren't we lucky ducks? :donald:) Both times, the Redwood water slide has been closed. I have a good feeling that on this trip the slide will be open and that in just 5 days we will be doing this:

Whaaaaahoooo!

Of course, we will be nowhere near as cute as the little guy in that video. Haven't been on a water slide since I was a kid and I can't wait!

Today is Day 4 of our 10 day countdown.

Here's another tidbit about our stay at the Grand Californian. I've been making may way through the hundreds of pages in the GCH Superthread and I found out that you can do a 15 minute scavenger hunt at the hotel. Just ask for the Grand Quest materials from Guest Services. How cool is that! And you get a treat at the end.

Read about the Grand Quest here.

Today is Day 3 of our 10 day countdown.

Just three sleeps until we are off to Disneyland!

What that means is that I have a lot of :laundy: to do before we leave.

Well, not laundry, we did that this weekend. But I do need to spend some quality time cleaning house over the next couple nights. I can't stand coming home to a dirty house after a vacation. And this past weekend I didn't get much housecleaning done at all. :confused3

On a DLR note (since maybe my readers aren't that interested in hearing about my dirty house) one of the things we are planning to do this weekend is go check out the Residence Inn Maingate. I have a reservation at this hotel for our big family trip in June 2012. My mother has given me a list of questions that need to be answered. I guess I come by my uber planning tendencies honestly...thanks Mom!

We need to know:
How long does it take to walk to the hotel from DLR?
Which buildings are the closest walk to DLR?
Does the hotel have any lender strollers?
How often does the ART shuttle run?
Are there family board games or should we bring some?
When is the manager's reception and what do they serve?
How big is the pool?
Are pool towels provided?
Can we take a peek in one of the loft suites?

All you uber planners know that these things are important. The problem is my DW is balking at taking time out of our weekend to visit the hotel. She says "The reason we're staying at the Grand Californian is so that we can AVOID walking to an off-site hotel". :lmao: Darn her and her crystal clear logic. She suggested I take the trip before Magic Morning on Sunday. By myself. :rotfl2: That is so not going to fly.

Maybe she'll go with me if we take the ART one way. Then I'll know how long the shuttle takes...

Today is Day 2 of our 10 day countdown.

Two more sleeps!

On Friday night at the Halloween Party we expect to collect lots of CANDY CANDY CANDY! (Thanks Lambie*Loves*Dland)

Today is Day 1 of our 10 day countdown.

Tomorrow night will find us at Mickey's Halloween party!
