So... after thinking about making a trek out to the DLR for the first time since I was 6 (I'm from Ohio...) after going to WDW for the past 3 years, I have a few questions:

1) What are crowds like during the week (M-W) in the last week of January?

2) Is there a good website where I can find what rides are typically closed for rehabs during this time of the year? I've read in numerous places that the rehab schedule is pretty consistent, is that true?

3) Best way to get from airport to Anaheim? I'm thinking rental car so we can go down to San Diego or into LA...

4) How far of a drive is it from DLR to say... Sea World in San Diego (2 hours?) and the zoo in San Diego?

5) Any other random comments for a WDW veteran who's only been to the West coast 3 times (age 2 & 6 to DL and age 24 to Santa Barbara)?

Hi. I'll try and answer a few of your questions.

1) We went these same days last year. You couldn't pick a better time to go crowd-wise. All walk ons or 10 min waits. It was cold and rainy though. It's hard to say what the weather will be because the week before we went there was a heat wave and it was 85 degrees!

2) Not sure about all the rehabs but for sure Its A Small World will be down to take down holiday decor as well as Haunted Mansion. I've heard the Rivers of American will be completely drained at this time.

3) Can't help you with this one, we've never flown to Anaheim before.

4)About 2 hours from SD to DL.

Hope this helps you some.

It sounds like you have some awareness of visiting in late January. Here is some info to help you decide what works best for you.

o Reliable sources are reporting the Rivers of America will be drained January-April. That means no Fantasmic (which is performed on the river in DL), and no attractions that depend on the river: Mark Twain, Columbia Sailing ship, Davy Crockett Canoes, Pirate's Lair at Tom Sawyer Island (PLATSI)

o HM is usually down in January to remove its holiday overlay but often back up by late January. IASW is usually down in late January to remove it holiday overlay.

o Historical ride refurb info can be found here:

"Historical DLR Park Hours, Entertainment and Refurbs" - www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2291124

o January is off-season and in general you will miss most of the best entertainment offerings at DLR if you go M-W. See "What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18462889

o The Aladdin show at DCA is a really good 40 minute long Broadway quality show that is better than any of the stage shows at WDW. And it only shows Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun. So you will miss that.

Which airport? There are several. You will not need a car at DLR especially if you stay at one of the many walking distance hotels (which I highly recommend BTW).

4) How far of a drive is it from DLR to say... Sea World in San Diego (2 hours?) and the zoo in San Diego?
LOL, but you ask "how far" and then put in a time. ;) "How far" and "how long" are two entirely different questions in SoCal. How far? Maybe 80 miles to SW in SD. How long? Anywhere from 90 minutes to 3+ hours depending on when you leave and the whims of the traffic gods.

Lots of random comments in this thread with which I agree with everything it says 100%: :cool2:
