We are heading to DLR over the Veteran's day holiday week (also my birthday..woo hoo! :cool1:) and had a question on which parks would be best for which days. Veterans day will be on Wed and we will be there that day thru Saturday (Nov 11-14). Taking into account the holiday, Magic Mornings (staying off-property) and AP blackout days, which days would be best for which park?:confused3
Thanks!

Always best to start EACH day at DL (if even only for 90 min.) then Hop to DCA for 2-4 hours, then back to DL in the late afternoon or early evening (with the 3-5 FPs you picked up in the early AM).

The only time i would think that this wouldn't apply would be if both parks had 10am opening (but you still might want to first go into DL for an hour to tour & pick up 2 FPs).....or if you slept in & missed out on the early DL touring.

Even though MM would cause FL & SM & Nemo (in DL) to already be crowded when entering at Gen. Adm. opening....visiting DL first thing on an MM day doesn't preclude an even start (for everyone) on FP collecting & on touring the "left side" of the park.

Just beware, it may not be an issue as Veteran's Day falls in the middle of the week, but it can get crowded, and DL has been known to not let anyone else in the park late in the afternoon as it reaches capacity. They have different stages of letting people in. For Wednesday, I would plan to spend the entire day at DL.

So...even with 4 mornings to play with, you wouldn't use at least one morning to go to DCA first? It seems like it would be smart to hit Toy Story, TOT and some of the big rides first on at least one morning? I was thinking maybe of going to DCA on the Veterans day holiday since it would be much busier at DL....is that not a good idea?:confused3

Try to be at DL for flag retreat on Veteran's day, it should be very special.

I'm going to sound wishy washy, but imo it depends. :)

A few random thoughts:

- If it is indeed "busy" (for whatever reason), the park hours will reflect this...& DL will open earlier. If DL opens earlier than DCA it's best to tour & pick up FP for at least 90 min....THEN hop to DCA. You'll need those 3-4 FPs (in DL) for later (if it is indeed going to be busy).

- I know some say to ride Toy Story first (as some said to ride Nemo first). I prefer to wait the 30-40 min. for Toy Story between (say) 11:30-1:30 than to use precious (touring & FP collecting) minutes between 9:30 - 10:30am. (But i'm also of the opinion that Toy Story is below Soarin', Screamin, ToT & Griz on my DCA favorites list).

- Dedicating one day to start at DCA makes more sense for someone with 4 days than it would for a 3 day or 2 day visitor.....especially if that day is one you want to sleep in anyway. It would also make alot of sense if both parks open at 10am on that day.

But....if DL opens at 8am (or 9am), It's best (imo) to start the day at DL (for at least 90-120 min.)....THEN hop to DCA after the initial DCA opening. (unless you're sleeping in ;)).
