DLR Live Entertainment Schedules?

While the official site does offer schedules for the major shows throughout DLR, it doesn't seem to list all of the smaller musicians and performers that can be found in the parks (i.e. Royal Street Bachelors, Dapper Dans, Disneyland Band, etc.). Are there any places like Steve Soares' WDW Live Entertainment site that give schedules for DLR entertainment?

Also, do the various musical acts perform on most operating days or do they tend to only come out on busier days/periods like weekends and holidays?

I don't know of any websites like that for DLR. I'm seen that acts on busier weekdays, but your more likely to see a more robust entertainment schedule on Friday and the weekends.

You get a schedule with your park map when you enter for the day. It's printed on a separate paper and has times listed for all the smaller (ie.not Fantasmic, fireworks etc) shows and events.

During the summer months I'm pretty sure they have all these smaller acts daily. At least they did last August when I was there. The events schedule will even list the flag ceremony on Main St. - it has it all!

Sadly, I have no idea where you could find this info online. I do know it exists though!:thumbsup2

I had a feeling you'd get a performance schedule along with the park guide. We'll be going in late June (we're already well aware of the AP/WOC forces that will be at play then) and I was hoping to hear that a lot of the live entertainment would be going during our visit. It seems like one of the many things that makes Disneyland so special.

Thanks for the info!

As soon as your dates are posted on the Park Hours calendar at Disneyland.com, you can click on the actual number date and it will give you the schedule for that day. :) It will include parades and larger shows.

Sorry, but this is simply false. As discussed in many other threads here, you won't find shows like the castle show with Mary Poppins & Bert or musical chairs in the Entertainment Times Guide

Is there any place where these kind of "unannounced" performances are listed online? That way we'd at least know what to look for as we visit the Parks. You always hear about acts like the Dapper Dans and the Disneyland Band, but it sounds as though there are more lesser known performances going on as well.

Not necessarily online, but you can find out from either City Hall or the tour stand right next to City Hall (which might be easier to get to). They do have a schedule for all of the performers (like the Dapper Dans), the wandering characters, and events that are NOT published in the Entertainment Times Guide. This information is not widely available to the public, but if you ask about a specific character or performer(s), they will happily give you the information about if the character(s)/performer(s) are going to be out that day, as well as where & when to see them. Bring pen & paper so you can write down the info!

Ok, so I went and pulled out my Entertainment Times Guide from my last trip in August. While you are correct that it doesn't list Mary Poppins or musical chairs (I didn't even know they did this!) it does list Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Stone, Billy Hill and the Hillbillies, Tomorrowland Terrace Bands, Jump Jive and Boogie Swing Party, Disneyland Band, Dapper Dans, Laughing Stock Co., The Boostrappers, when and where to meet the characters and the fastpass rides.

Keep in mind this was from August 2 yrs ago, so some of the shows/live entertainment may have changed.

However, if remember correctly this was the info that the OP was looking for, right? At least some of the info....so I guess we are both right. ;)

There are many more appearances by characters than you can find on the guide. Even worse, the latest Disneyland map I have seen does not even have Aladdin's Oasis on it - let alone note that is where he and Jasmine do meet 'n greets.

All of this info has been helpful and exactly the kind of thing that makes these boards so great. It's much appreciated! Now we'll know where to go for schedules and to look out for characters and performances we might otherwise have missed.

Are there any personal favorites we should catch? I've never heard of a castle show with Mary Poppins and Bert...what's it like?

My friend just came back from her trip a month ago and she brought back her Entertainment Times Guide that she got at the gates, and it said the same thing. Had the list of those little fun shows and their show times. Cause I remember commenting on the Laughing Stock and how funny their shows are.

The castle show is very cute! The Pearly Band comes out first and then are joined by Mary and Bert.

And they're never listed in the Entertainment Times Guide. Definitely ask at City Hall or the Guest Relations CM by the Wait Time Board/Info Kiosk. You may have to ask for the times of the Pearly Band.

And I LOVE the atmosphere entertainment around the parks. Some other favorites:
- The Main Street Strawhatters: made up of members of the Disneyland Band, they usually play two (or three) sets in the afternoon.

- The Delta Daddy-Os: a doo-wop singing group in DCA. They only perform on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as of this Spring, but are a must-see for me if I can get off work. :D

Thanks for the suggestions! There is quite a bit of atmosphere entertainment at Disneyland, at least more than what you see at WDW's Magic Kingdom (unless we just happen to miss a lot of them whenever we're there).

Does DCA have a fair amount of atmosphere entertainment as well? I hadn't really thought about that park's offerings.

Unfortunately, there's not as much in DCA. They have The Miner 49ers (bluegrass group) by GRR and The Mariachi Divas (um...mariachi group) in the Pacific Wharf area. Operation Playtime with the Green Army Men is a fairly recent addition and is a lot of fun for kids--i.e. audience participation opportunities. Plus the aforementioned Delta Daddy-Os in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot.

Three of the above groups are thankfully included in the Entertainment Times Guide. The lone exception being the Delta Daddy-Os.

(editing to add)
There is one new atmosphere group that was added during the Food & Wine Festival that's running now. The Jammin' Chefs are a Stomp-like trio accompanied by two tap dancers. They're dressed as chefs and play on an assortment of kitchen appliances, pots and pans. I caught them last weekend and enjoyed them a lot. I'm guessing they'll disappear when the Food & Wine Festival is over though.

Perhaps the DCA makeover will bring more atmosphere entertainment to the park to support the new settings like Buena Vista Street and the redefined Paradise Pier.

Oh, wow! I didn't even know about the castle show with Mary Poppins & Bert! I'll have to see if we can catch that, it looks fun!

I have a special place in my heart for the Dapper Dans, so I'm glad when we can catch them. I haven't seen the Main Street Strawhatters before... are they a Dixieland band?

one more: Cruella performs in a little show in front of the firehouse on Main Street

I've heard very good things about Farley the Fiddler:

He can be seen on the front porch of the Davy Crockett Pioneer Mercantile at the entrance to Frontierland. 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30, and 5:30. (Times subject to change, etc.)

FWIW, here's a link for more live entertainment.

HTH :earsboy:

Just to clarify ...

IS there a schedule of this other live entertainment available at City Hall?

The Disneyland Band is my favorite - incredible performers and great arrangements.
