DLR in the Rain?

Since the weather at DLR is about to turn into crud midway through our trip, I thought I'd ask . . . what are everyone's favorite things to do at DLR/DCA in the rain?

I went in December when it rained for a couple days. Obviously, doing any indoor and semi-indoor rides while the park is less busy is lots of fun. Just make sure your shoes have good traction, and/or walk super-carefully.

It sounds ridiculous, but if it's COLD and raining, Innoventions is heavenly. The CM letting us in emphasized how warm and dry it was. I'm sure none of them were used to having half as many people as they had that day and they all seemed really excited. :)

A whole group of people were in the living room of the "House of Tomorrow" as if it were their own, watching WALL-E. I found it hilarious. :)

They even had some Winnie the Pooh characters up on the top level so you could get your pictures with them.

Space Mountain wasn't a walk-on (and there was some water dripping or something so they did end up shutting it down after a while), but the lines were definitely very manageable. (Super-slippery throughout the queue, though! :( )

DCA was pretty much literally a ghost town on a drizzly night. There were at most maybe 10 people ahead of us in line for TSMM (meaning that it wasn't technically a walk-on but it was darned close.)

If you like to take photos, you can get some lovely shots in the rain if you like.

But basically, almost anything you like to do that is covered or indoors is just great in the rain. If you are dressed for the rain you can technically do a lot of other things too, but that depends on your tolerance for getting wet (and if you do an outdoor coaster, your tolerance for getting pelted in the face by raindrops at 30 miles per hour.)

The only thing I found that wasn't any fun at all in the rain was trying to get something to eat at the Hungry Bear Restaurant around lunch. It was packed and the lines were very long and pretty wet, even with an umbrella. To tell you how long the lines were, one woman was down in the covered area saving two tables for her party (meaning it took us a long time and some trouble to find a place to sit). By the time her party came down with the food, we were literally on our last bite of lunch. :confused3

Have a great time!

I love the rain in Disney, because it drives many people back to their hotels. ;) If it isn't too bad, we try to enjoy the outdoor rides, minus the wait. If it's pelting, like Eeee-va said, indoor attractions are a great way to pass the time.

It has been years since I was last there in the rain. We put on $20 (or whatever ridiculous price they were) rain ponchos and went to town. It can be a lot of fun. :) We were without children then too though, so I have no idea how I'd handle it with little ones in tow.

The DCA animation building is fun on a rainy day as well. It rained the last day of our trip in Feb., and that day had the highest crowds of our entire trip--everyone must have found the secret memo about 'low crowds on a rainy day' ;)

:cool1:I think it would be fun to be there in the rain! Of course being an Oregonion means that a downpour in anything warmer than 35 degrees is very tolerable! And less people because of it is an added bonus!

Ride the GRR over and over again. You know that you are going to get wet anyway, so why not have some fun at the same time?

Thirding this! And hoping for rain during my trip next week...already got the Mickey poncho ready to go

When is your next trip? If it's between the 17th to the 21st (of April), I'll be hoping for rain as well! We can meet up and shake our ponchos out together in a couple of lines

I'll be there from the 5th til the 8th...but I'm sure you'll find some other waterproof Disboarders whilst you're there!

It rained pretty good when we were there Christmas 2 years ago. We went on Toy Story over and over with little wait ( the only day we did the entire 8 days). Only thing I wouldn't do (lucky my kids found out for me lol) do not ride California Screaming, it feels like you are being hit with paint balls or something. Kids were all frozen and had red spots all over there face and arms.:rotfl: Good thing I have tough girls. But it was the best trip as crowd levels were low since it was raining all week. So here if some pixiedust: for those of you who are hoping for rain.

Thanks for all your input! As it turns out, I didn't need any of them, since it didn't rain a single drop! They were forecasting rain all day with the chances of rain getting better and better as the day wore on - but as it turns out, the weather actually improved throughout the day and by 5:00 there wasn't a cloud in the sky. On top of that, the crowds were the lightest we have seen (25 minutes for Nemo!?). My new favorite time to visit Disney - when it is supposed to rain like crazy and is sunny instead. :)
