Hi, I'm new and my interview for the Disneyland College Program is tomorrow so I may be getting a bit ahead of myself, but I was wondering if any of you guys know how the housing is for the DLR CP students? I've seen threads about the ones in Florida but I haven't been able to find any for Disneyland. Anyone lived there before? Did you like it?

Thanks!:worship:

Hey! There are a few groups on facebook that are about it- do you have facebook? I'm still waiting to hear if I got in, I had my phone interview Friday before last.

I actually don't have a facebook... I know, right? I don't know where I've been either. Good luck on your call back!

Anyway, the apartments are at the Promenade at Anaheim, there is a website if you search for it. The two the CP's are housed in are Broadway Arms and the Carnagie Plaza.

Holy crap! Are they really as nice as those pictures?

So Florida gets paid $2 cheaper and has crappier apartments? Not cool.

I know, they look super nice! Upscale and way beyond my expectations. But then I was reading some reviews and most were terrible. I wonder how much of that is due to the fact that people don't really get inspired to write reviews on apartments unless they have a bad experience...

Wait...what makes you think that the apartments in Florida are crappier??? Patterson Court is REALLY BEAUTIFUL!!! Vista Way might be crappy...but thats because they were there when Disney College FIRST started, so its the oldest. But Patterson Court has been open for less than a year. Chatham Square is really nice as well...it kinda has an older look to it. But i prefer Patterson. But you also has to remember, the cost of living in California is WAY higher than Florida, so more than likely, its going to look better.

Yeah I just want to point out that in California your rent per week is $159. I'm pretty sure that's a lot more than what you pay per week in Florida.

Keyblade- you'll have to tell me how your interview went! There's so little about Disneyland, it's really nice to find someone else who is applying! What all are you wanting to do?

My interview is in an hour and a half and I'm so nervous. I've been scouring the "interview questions" thread and practicing my answers like a nerd.

Avejajed, I'll definitely report back afterwards. I want Attractions or Full-Service Hostess the most. I also wouldn't mind Entertainment Costuming, Guest Research or Hospitality. What all are you hoping for?

Toffy, welcome! It's true what Avejajed said, there really isn't much up here for the DLR kids, so it's nice to find some.

I put about a hundred choices, but she questioned me about Disney desks and food service. I think I'd like qsf more, as I'd be in the actual parks, but most of my experience is in hospitality and tourism (hotel). So, we'll see. :) I really, really really really want it. And I did the same thing you did, practiced like a crazy person before, but I think it went really well.

Good luck with your interview. We'll want details, of course. :) It's so great to find other people who may be going to the DL one. :yay:

They aren't 'crappy' but not really comparable to what I read on that site. Granite counter tops, hard wood floors, fireplaces, etc. Now, advertising tends to dramatize the furnishing, but I was just comparing what I know about the Florida housing.

Chatham (besides the green carpet) and Patterson look great, but they're more...simple than DLR housing seems to be.

besides the basic features, the apartments in California likely aren't furnished any more elegantly than the apartments in Florida. The dressing in the photos is there to make them seem really elegant and expensive and such- but I doubt that's the way they actually look, especially after a year of college students living in them. ;)

Sigh, I was getting ahead of myself. I didn't even get to interview, the lady just said right off that bat that I didn't get in. I didn't get an explanation, she just said to reapply in the Spring. Guess I'm a Spring 2010 hopeful now :sad1: I wish I knew why... Maybe the roles I chose? But then I'd just think they'd just put me elsewhere. And then I was thinking that my major, nursing, has nothing to do with any of the roles really, and maybe they want to save the positions for people with relevant majors during the recession? :confused3 Oh man, I'm over-analyzing... Such a bummer.

Wait, you didn't even interview? Maybe it was just too late? I was worried that maybe I had applied too late and they were full. That is so weird.

Isn't it? It sucks that I wasn't even given a chance. Maybe it was too late, I was kind of thinking that might be it... but then I would think they'd just tell me that. They just said I wasn't a good fit for this semester and to reapply for Spring. Sigh.

Well that really sucks. :( I'm sorry it didn't work out. If I don't get in, we'll both be spring hopefuls! I'm eventually going, if I have to wait, I will. :)

Haha, yeah... Me too. I'm even more determined now, actually. This is a serious misallocation of valuable Disney resources here! :p

Exactly! Either way, we should keep in touch because you seem really fun. If I do make it, I'll give you the low down. If I don't, we'll be in it together!
