DLR food on a budget?

Be warned that Starbucks in Las Vegas will be some of the most expensive Starbucks you will find!!

I wanted to chime in and say that you can order food online from the grocery stores and have it delivered to your room. Especially when you are flying, you can't really bring a case of water LOL We DO bring snacks such as dried fruit/granola/pnt btr or cheese crackers/pringles etc. Even waiting in line a little lollypop or hard candy to suck on is handy! We bring our own little drink mix packets if we get bored with plain water. You can get free ice water anywhere in the park or have a case of soda sent to your room if you need to or freshfruit. If you don't have transportation a quick taxi ride or shuttle bus will take you closer to a groecery store.
We usually buy muffins/oatmeal packets or cereal and milk to keep in our room, while everyone is getting ready we are eating breakfast before heading out.
As another poster stated Food4less is one mile from Disney and 7-11 little shop is closer. Albertsons.com will deliver anything to the Hotel and you will receive it upon arrival.

AT DL - Pizzaport (tomorrowland) has FREE refills if you like soda and for Pizza Port in Tomorrowland where you can share a plate of Chicken Fusili for $8.99.
The Royal Sweet Veranda has soup bowls that are VERy filling and I agree with the pommes frites (OMG SO GOOD!)
LaBrea bakery has soup/salad/sandwiches/hot dogs atround $6-7
Napolini also has items in the $6-9 range, in DTD.
Whitewater also has reasonable food.
Most of the above have plenty items under $10 that will satisfy!

I'm not sure where you think you got a banana for 24 cents. Espicially at Disney or a convienience store. If you went to a regular store I think bananas are about .79 to .99 a pound.

It was at Target that does groceries, and we bought them 3 times at different Target stores near Carlsbad and in San Diego. Maybe it was on special while we were there? I dunno but they were just so cheap compared to what we're paying here at the moment (Cyclone Yasi destroyed most of our banana plantations back in February).

I saw them at the 7/11 near Disneyland for about 79 cents each I think.

OP if you get a chance try Fish Tacos somewhere. I thought OMG yuck when I saw them but a local convinced me to try them and they weren't bad :) We also enjoyed BJ's where we ate twice as a family of five for around $90 US, no appetizers but including dessert and a couple of beers/ciders each. :)

If your free brekky is concierge at a DLR hotel, we stayed at PPH, theres no bread to toast only bagels, which were quite sweet. We were told we could ask for anything and they'd get it within reason, but despite asking for brown or wholemeal bread to toast almost everyday it didn't happen lolz. The only cereal that wasn't sugar overloaded was sultana bran. The other three offerings were fruit loops, frosted flakes and something else equally sugary. Theres lots of fruit on offer at least. Muffins, and various pastries too though I didn't like the pastries they had despite normally enjoying those type of things.

No need to imply a poster doesn't know what she or he is talking about... Targets in Arizona (one state away from California, but about 300 miles from Disneyland) also sell bananas for 24 cents, if I recall correctly. So I imagine that's a common price for Target, and could possibly even be the nationwide price.

Last week Fry's grocery store out here had them for 57 cents a pound, but grocery stores in Arizona are pretty competitive, so they could be more expensive in California. (Though in theory shipping costs to get those bananas to Anaheim should be less than getting them away from the ocean to Arizona. :confused3 )

Obviously they cost more at the parks, but that's another matter. Alicia1506, enjoy your bananas. :rotfl:

to be honest, i really don't mind how expensive the bananas are, as long as they are under $10.00/kilo which is about $5.00/lb ... a cyclone here and then major flooding destroyed our banana crops in this country for pretty much the last year or so, so it's been hard to find decently priced local fruit, lol.

the idea on bringing prepackaged cereal etc is a good idea. and i think we'll probably utilise it in DLR, NY and WWOHP. while in vegas, i think we plan on eating our way up & down the strip. we have some 'must try' foods on our list...

soup in a breadbowl at DLR
monte christo sandwich
celbration bbq at big thunder ranch
jumbalaya/gumbo/chowder at any of the locations (preferrably NOS)
dole whip
cupcake from the bakery
nathans hotdog/pretzel in NY
butterbeer/dinner at 3 broomsticks in WWOHP

also, since we don't normally get to eat authentic mexican food, we want to try:

tacos
chilequiles
rancho huevos
lobster nachos
burritos
enchiladas etc.

lol. i imagine my TR upon returning will be 50% TR and 50% food porn.

If you have a car, drive down Disneyland Dr, between the parks and DLH and PPH. Disneyland Dr becomes West St. Los Sanchez was suggested here on the DIS and I think I will have it every visit from then on.

:scared1:

http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/men_fruit.htm says Disneyland sells bananas for $1.79...if they're average sized bananas that could be about $5 per pound! Though I have heard the fruit at Disneyland is the best anywhere. Me, I think I would probably stop at a grocery store. :)

In NY, don't forget new york style pizza or cheesecake!!
Cheesecake is at Junior's, and you'll get better hotdogs at Papaya Dog, Papaya King, or Grey's Papaya. Wondering what all the papaya is about? Surprisingly fruit smoothies go WONDERFUL with hot dogs.

Good call on the eating at Excaliburs btw. Good variety in their food court. :)

Also..I'll stop complaining about 59 cents a pound for bananas LOL

do you know if they do vege/soy dogs? my SO is a vegetarian, so that makes eating a h/dog in front of him a little guilt ridden :)
