DLR Concierge: What's it like?

In july we stayed at the Poly and the food and service was just fabulous!
So we booked our trip earlier this week for NYE at the PP concierge. What a let down. Very disapointed in the lack of service and the food was gross. nothing like the ton of food all day at the poly. I will bever waist my $ on that again. I would not even know where to start to complain to DL about it, but that was a big waist of my $!

Grand Californian concierge is definitely better than Paradise Pier. Only been to the Disneyland Hotel concierge once, and it seems to be somewhere in the middle.

well i have also heard good things about pp. we are staying there in oct and we are spluging for the concearge.
you can get drinks all day. they have wine and chess and hot apatizer in evening and they have snakes all day, chips, cookies, uncrustbules, and they have a brekfest there like contentail from what i understand.
tho if you are not one who will take advantage of it like going to hotle in mid day for brake and stuff then many say not to do it.

since I was there and left tuesday I'll break down what they had. We were there for 5 days!
Bfast - bagels, cereals, juices and milk, pastries and fresh fruit
snack/lunch - goldfish, trailmix, bags of chips and cookies!
dinner - uncrustables, cheese, salsa and chips, one desert (only mini pecan things every night). only 1 hot appetizer everynight - one night was veg egg rolls, then mini sliders one night, fried shrimp ome night, and fried pot stickers another night! yes there is wine and beer that you have to ask and they go get it for you. The concierge staff said they enjoy tips as they deliver it! yeah thats classy to ask! The fried food was greasy. and they said to us "these are not meant to be meals, just a snack!"
DL better catch up to the wdw hotel service since they lack

NO UNCRUSTABLES IN THE DAY! and there is water and sodas that are help yourself. They lock the room up at 8:30 so you better stock up before they close. at the poly the lounge was open 24/7. also they open at 6:30 when early entry was at 7am. very inconvinent to get bfast when you have to jet to the park!
The staff was not willing to really help. They give the same service at the front desk! If we do WDW again it will be poly Concierge.
But the PP is a flat waist of $$$$$$ for concierge. Not sure whom I would even let know of our disappointment honestly. we booked through disney travel and was not sure if I should call them!

Never been to WDW so i can't compare it. But we have stayed concierge at PPH and DLH (unfortunately not GCH). We enjoyed both. The main difference between the 2 are hours they close. I believe PPH closes at 8 and DLH & GCH closes at 10. The staff were friendly and helpful. One day, we decided around noon that we wanted to eat at cafe orleans that night. When we called priority seating, they were all booked up. We spoke to the cm in the concierge lounge and she called immediately and got us a table for 7 for the time we wanted. We made a point to always head back to the hotel each afternoon to get some pool time in and take advantage of the wine and cheese hour. The cm waitstaff were exceptionally nice and quick to serve. They even remembered what dh and I drank. After the first night, we'd find a table and within a few minutes we'd have our wine at our table without having to order. We were at DLH for 7 nights and made it to wine and cheese hour 6 of those nights. We really enjoyed DLH concierge, the lounge faces downtown disney. One night we were too tired to stay for the fireworks, we were able to watch it from the lounge where they piped in the music. Fruits and drinks are available all hours they are open. They do have breakfast, lunch, appetizers, and desserts only for certain hours during the day though. We were lucky to get the AP4 rate for our last trip and it was well worth it. It was our most enjoyable trip yet to DL.

When I said Grand Californian was better, I just meant it was fancier. As far as I can remember, they all have the same snacks and drinks, it's just the appetizers and the lounges that are different.

oh, then that makes me think no on concierge again.I can bring our drinks with us for $25 and snacks I can bring to for a fridge.
But if we go to WDW, it is concierge all the way!!!!!!

I've done PP Concierge twice. (& haven't done Concierge at WDW or any other DLR property). The first time in June it was for 2 nights & the price bump was $50 per night. The second time was 3 weeks ago & the price bump was $40 per night. For our family the concierge was a value:

- We were only there a couple of days.
- We easily saved the $$ in drinks alone.
- We enjoyed the minimal breakfast items, drinks & cookies. Which also saved us $$.
- We enjoyed the Mickey treats in our rooms.
- I'd put a $60 - $70 value on it.

But....like the previous poster said,

- the food selections are limited.
- we had uncrustables during the day in June but not in Dec.

So....don't expect much.....but (imo) it's worth it for $50 - $60 bucks a day if you don't want to pay for resort breakfast or pay for resort beverages/waters.

What if you don't like wine? Can I get a beer while playing chess?:confused3

They had beer and wine. The Mickey treats only come on the first night of your stay. The strawberries were put out closer to 7pm and they go VERY fast.

i only read about some one syaing they were out i didnt ask if it was every night but them and the micky mouse rice crispy treats dipped in cholate were left in the two ppls room i had talked to. I think hound had asked or told it was kids bday (if it wasnt hound it was another and im so sorry for the confusion) ive been sick last 3 days and getting foggy on some things

I totally agree with this statement. Besides breakfast, it really isn't meant to be a substitute for meals, but you certainly can made a dinner out of the evening offerings, especially if you ate a large lunch. As for tipping, we did tip our servers for the alcohol. I'm not sure if that is the reason, but we got wonderful service. I thought the vegetable and cheese trays were great. The hot appetizers varied as far as quality. The quesadillas were very spicy hot.
