DLR combined with cruise?

Hey all!
So I've been trying to get my extended family to plan a DLR or WDW trip for our next family vacation, but I seem to be getting overruled (they just don't love Disney the way I do!).

So the consensus seems to be to try a Mexican Riviera cruise out of LA/Long Beach. I'm thinking I will try to tack on at least 2 days at DLR either before or after, just to get my fix.

Has anyone done this before? How did it work out for you? Would you recommend doing the parks before or after the cruise? I'm leaning toward before, so that when we leave DLR (not having spent nearly enough time there), I will still have the cruise to look forward to and ease the pain of separation. Any thoughts?

We haven't done a Disneyland/cruise combo yet but will be October 2015- Mexican Riveria. As of now we are planning to visit the Disneyland Resort pre-cruise. My thinking revolves around the kids having a school break around that time and if we go pre-cruise, they'll miss less school.

I found out first cruise very relaxing so I think cruising after the parks will be the perfect way to wind down. Having said that, I don't think you can go wrong either way.

We are planning this for February 2015. We have a Mexican Riviera cruise scheduled and are planning on 2 days of Disney before the cruise. I figure I'll get to relax after a couple busy days at the parks.

That is the same time frame we are thinking of! I'm originally from Utah too, so that's fun! Though I may have to look at when UEA weekend is and try to avoid the parks then, it gets so busy! I was thinking we may try to go over Canadian Thanksgiving, which is in mid-October.

We've done the cruise before, and of course DLR, but never together. But it seems like we could try and do two commando days in the parks, getting up super early, and then just relax when we hit the cruise. The first couple of days are at sea! Maybe we'll see you there!
