I'm looking for some info on how the holidays are set up at DLR. We've done WDW in the 1st week of December, and Pop Warner really turned us off. My b-day is the 7th and nothing makes me happier than spending it with the mouse!

Stuff like when do the decorations go up, do they do something like the MVMCP, what weeks are lower attendance... really any pointers that you might have.

Thanks in advance!:thumbsup2

I'm interested in this too.

Given the desire to enjoy the season (sometime after Thanksgiving), max out on seasonal events, but avoid the nutty crowds (Thanksgiving Weekend, Christmas week etc.)...

What 3-4 day period would you choose to visit DLR (factoring in the above, along with hours of operation, crowd levels etc).

Thanks for asking this Moppety. :thumbsup2

Well the decorations go up in November, so you'd be good the first week of December. I've heard that's a really good week to go as far as crowds go. I know they have a special holiday parade, and after fireworks at night they have "snow" that falls. :)

Well if I am not mistaken the decorations started going up at the beginning of November. From what I remember disboarders telling us on here was the day right after halloween the big pumpkin on mainstreet was taken down and some christmas decorations in the store windows started going up. For the first 2 weeks of November you will see more and more of the park getting into the swing of Christmas.

And usually around the first weekend of December is the Candlelight Procession which brings in the crowds. It's neat to see, but awfully crowded.

Yes, the decorations are up in the beginning of November. You can get the feel of Christmastime from Veterans Day on!! We are going the week before Thanksgiving and it will befully decorated for the holidays!!

I would absolutely recommend you go anywhere in the 10-14th range!!! Great decor and activities, low low crowd levels!!! Done this 2 years in a row!!

Oh sorry, forgot, there is no MVMCP at DL, which I hope they add soon now that the Halloween party has been so popular.

Generally as a rule, anytime before school gets out for winter break on a weekday will be a fabulous time to go, with the exception of the first week of December since they close early for cast member parties at night and avoiding the first weekend being candlelight processional. In my experience, you just cannot go wrong with the second week of December!!!

i wish they would decied to do the party this year hehe..and what is the thing thats happing first weekend of dec..what is it supose to be?(im gona be there for it.

It is the candlelight processional, similar to WDW's but on a smaller scale. Then the first week has two days or so with cast member parties so the parks close early around 6pm or so!

Thanks for all the info, dis'ers. :thumbsup2

Guess I'll need to look at the calender and be ready to act when:

- the CM party dates become known.
- the processional dates are confirmed.
- the official calenders (with hours) are posted.

We are fairly flexible and want to do 2-3 nights at Hojos (Sun-Tues).

Thanks again. :)

What "Hound" said!

Thanks to everyone for all of the great info. Looks like I'll be making a trip in December.

Dis'ers are the best!

Candlelight Processional is always the first full weekend, so it will most likely be the 1st or 2nd, then cast member parties are always the first full week so I would say anytime after the 6th or 7th would be great!! December weekday hours are almost always 10-8 for DL and 10-6 for DCA. Weekends will be till 11 or midnight like always too!

Happy planning!

Yes all the decorations stay up until the first week of January. Including HMH.

dose any one know good dvd to try to buy thats based on disney land hollidays or anything

Okay, having a BIG discussion at our house to go or not to go to DL the week of Thanksgiving (Sunday - Friday). Okay, DH is voting for that, DS and I are saying wait till late May and go to DL Paris.

Question is...how are the crowds that week? I expect that Thanksgiving day and Friday would be crazy. We were in WDW for Thanksgiving a few years ago and Christmas there in 2005 so can anyone compare to those dates and crowds?

Thanks!

The 1st week of Dec is a great week to go, the crowds are very low, and the christmas decorations are up.
