DLR Almost the First Time

I haven't been to DLR for 18 years. This is our first time as a family for Christmas. Is the Christmas crowd as bad as WDW? Also we are family of 5, we are thinking hotels around the DLR. Any recommendations? We want the hotel close to the main gate.

Hojo's is a great option there is also the Park Place Inn and the Tropicana Inn, these are a few we have stayed in with good results i know there are others....Hojo's has been our favorite by far we also tried the Fairfield Inn this last april and it was great.... good luck and have a great stay

we have only been once during xmas season and that was years ago so my input wouldnt be accurate ....

HoJo is not close to the maingate though. Tropicana is close and Best Western is close.
