Trip Report Day 1

Right well cast members:

Mum & dad (their 2nd Dismas trip), myself, my husband (3rd Dismas trip), my brother and my 7 year old niece (1st timers!), all but my brother are Disney mad (he actually didn't come to the park on day 2 instead he went round Paris but hey you can't please everyone!) sooo here goes!!

Well more of a half day actually….. we flew with Air France from Birmingham to CDG, not much to say about that other than, flight was all bang on time, no problems at all, airline staff lovely, nice snacky things and complimentary drinks on flight and before we knew it we were there!

Me impatiently waiting at the airport

Got off plane at Terminal 2F at 19.40 as scheduled and I phoned the shuttle company for our transfer on the number I had been given to confirm we had landed. We were given a time of 20:10 for our luggage so walked along the carousels-found the one that said Birmingham and decided to nip to the loo………on way back from loo my husband was walking towards us with a trolley and ALL OUR LUGGAGE!!!! Major bonus couldn’t believe it was so quick. The Paris Shuttle company have a desk located at Exit 0.04 at Terminal 2F so walked to that and was about to phone them using the direct dial phone when I saw our driver!

Lovely man, spoke great English, immaculate vehicle with seating for 8, he let my niece sit upfront so she could look out for the upcoming Disney signs which she thought was great.

Just for the record I booked this company through:

http://www.parishuttle.com/

However there is also:

http://www.parisshuttleservice.com/

DO NOT use the second one (parisshuttleservice) , last year when I finally located the driver at CDG he was this grubby man, who barely spoke English and the vehicle was filthy (the website says luxury immaculate vehicles and English speaking drivers) not to mention that we had passed him several times because the company told him our name over the phone so he had scribbled it quickly on a piece of A4 paper…now whilst my name is DUFFIELD this man was walking round CDG looking for a family by the name of “DEFILE” we still laugh about it now…. Also the company despite me telling them in several emails that they took my card details down wrong turned round to me and said my card had been declined they wanted cash then and there….it was most embarrassing!!! So would recommend avoiding that company…..

Hence why this years was such a relief and very glad i changed to a different company! So anyway we got to The Seqouia Lodge in little over 30 minutes, check in a little slow (one person in front of me and i waited for 20 mins) but were given rooms opposite each other (very handy) and off we went to the village to Annette’s Diner. Yummy burgers as always served in good time despite them being incredibly busy.

The park was absolutely freezing and here is Lake Disney frozen over....

then off to bed ready for our first day in the park!

I like your picture of the lake. I kept thinking it wasn't that cold and that the lake was being artificially frozen by Disney! I was amazed at how much the water had frozen there - the wheel on BTM, the water around Dumbo, some of the waterfall by the Castle, icicles hanging from Skull Rock etc. The Pays des Contes des Fees didn't open while we were there and the water was frozen the whole time! Before the Mark Twain went one day they were cracking the water in the lake. It just didn't feel that cold to me.

No it didn't! I couldn't understand how the ice got so thick!!! mind you whilst snuggily in our seriously heated rooms and sleeping, i believe the temperature outside was plummeting to -6. I was outside after midnight one of the nights and it was damned cold then!!!

Those poor ducks on the lake though-bless! Xmas Eve felt very very cold in the morning but the other days were not bad at all. I think it adds to it.

Yes Warebears every year the pirate hats go on! I think my mum and dad took ones of us in the store by POTC in the hats with the wigs attached i think they are genius!

I always buy a pair of ears every year but i do like to play with all the others!!
security tags get in the way a bit though....:lmao:
