I'm off to DLP for the end of July/beginning of August and am driving myself and staying in my caravan outside of the parks so I will be buying park tickets only. A few questions please:

1. In the past people have said that the best value tickets are the annual passes but with the pound the way it is against the euro, is the best value ticket for me to buy a 4 day for the price of three tickets from the official site - comes back at £362 for 3 adults, 1 child.

2. We want to book a character breakfast at Cafe Mickey's as we have been before and loved it. I have seen several reports of different numbers to call to book. What are the ones people have had most success with. Also will I be able to book it now or wait until closer to the event. Oh, and do I pay at the time of booking or on the day as in Florida.

3. Is it best to use the normal car parks or, as I read somewhere else, the one in Disney Village and walk from there. I'm thinking of cost more than anything.

I'll probably think of lots more so I hop I find someone out there who has driven and stayed outside the parks.

Robbie

hello and welcome

The car park at Disney Village is more expensive as you pay per hour

The character breakfast at Mickeys has to be paid for at time of booking I think which is better because you pay in £ and not Euros

We got dream annual passes and found they easily pay for themselves but we do several trips a year
The APs give discounts as well in shops/restaurants and so you need to weigh up how much you might spend to see if its worth it
A dream AP also gives you free parking at the hotels - except DLH. We usually park at new york which is the next nearest and nearer than the official car park

Hi,

Parking in the Disney car park is 8 Euros for the whole day, parking in DV, is as said before, by the hour!

As to tickets, well that's your call - you need to weigh up the cost of each option! We have AP's (Fantasy) which are 129 Euros each and have found them excellent value as they allow when doing the same as you, i.e. camping close by, to come and go as you please at no cost nor having to spend all day in the praks to justify the cost of day tickets! Of course when we bought them the exchange rate was far better - however if buying in country the cost of the AP is more or less the cost of a 3 day hopper! Just looked, 134 against 129. And parking is free! Also discounts in the park of 10% on eats and shopping! However there is no discount for children if you buy an AP!

There is always the cheaper AP but is more restrictive, can't be used for the 2nd & 3rd day after purchase and has more blackout days than the other two but costs only 89 Euros!

As said, it is your call!

By the way, where are you camping?

Hi cerirobert,
Elaine, Jackie, Elaine and Reid welcome you to the DLP DIS board :flower3:

I just called the main Disney booking line to book and pay for breakfast at Cafe Mickey - the number is 08448 008111. Its much cheaper, the way the pound is against the euro, to pay in advance in pounds, than to pay on the day in euros.

Think everyone has answered your questions Robbie, just wanted to say Hello
from another Welshie, not too far away from you.
Have you driven before ?
I was saying to OH today, (I had to drive to Aldershot and back) that I'd like to try it sometime, I've been by coach and the roads in France definately seem quieter than our motorways.

I'll see how the pound fares over the next couple of months I think before making a decision. I am only at the caravan park 8 nights and seven days and want to visit Paris and Asterix (using Tesco Days out vouchers) so I think 4 days would be my limit in the Parks. At the moment based on the curent exchange rate the fantasy pass would work out at £452 for the 4 of us compared to £362 for a 4 for the price of 3 pass. After taking parking into account (about £30) I would still e £60 down so would really need another visit to justify the cost. We'll see how it goes.
Oh and the site I have booked is with the Caravan Club and is called Des quatre vents. About 15 minutes drive from Disney.

Hi. No, never driven before. once by plane, once by train. I am a little apprehensive to be honest, especially with a tourer behind me. Everyone who has though has said it is easier than driving in the UK so we'll wait and see.

Thanks for the number Elaine. Would I be able to booke now for the end of July or would I have to wait till closer.

Hi,

Driving in France is far easier than here - far less traffic for a start! When we camp we take a trailer tent and never had any problems - granted not as big though!

Don't be put off! Happy to answer any questions, PM me.

Hi fellow welshie :)

if you are planning on going again, then the APs will definitely be the way to go :)
with sponsorship discount plus all the perks ( EMH,free luggage store, free parking etc with dream ) we found them fab :goodvibes

have fun planning!

xx

Forgot to mention the other factor, you can get 10% discount off the cost of the AP if an existing AP holder sponsors you so brings the cost down to 116 Euros or approx £102 at todays money!

And of course the other factor is if they might be used again....
