We flew out to DLP Friday morning, on the 6am Easyjet flight to CDG, we were a little worried as our last flight with Easyjet was delayed going out and coming back, but no this one left about 10 minutes late, but we arrived on time.
Once there we jumped on the VEA shuttle and were at Sequoia Lodge by 9.30am, we checked in had room 3158 on the South Wing, nice view of the lake and Newport Bay Hotel. The room was nice, two large double beds, windows that span the whole of the size of the room. This hotel was ideally placed for us with only a 10 minute walk to the front of the park, although we were lazy and used the coach a few times
Our first day was spent in the Disneyland Parc, the park was empty, most we waited for a ride was 5 - 10 minutes for Buzz everything else was a walk on. Beautiful sunshine too which I hadnt expected as the weather forecast said scattered showers and cloud.
Saturday we got the RER into Paris. Simon had never been to Paris before and it was a long time since I had been there so we thought we would be tourists for the day. There was an army presence at the RER station, young men carrying massive guns, quite scary. We picked up our travel card, zones 1 -5, it was around 23 for the two of us.
We did all the sights, poor hubby got poo'd on by a piegon
apparently its suppose to be lucky but he didn't see it that way.
The disneyland parc was open until 11pm on Saturday so we decided to go back in, hmmm bad decision, it was rammed, with most rides around 50 - 75 mins wait. A nice young lad gave us his fast passes for Indiana so we managed to do that but that was it. We gave up around 10pm and went back to the resort.
Sunday morning we spent the morning in the Studios, quite busy again, but we managed to do most things and saw the parade, very short though. In the afternoon we went back into the Disneyland Parc, again it was rammed and you couldn't get on much, rode Small World and that was about it.
We also saw the Princess Parade too, very nice, and very catchy music, although we had a run in with a french family. We got our seats an hour before the parade started, we sat down on the stone benches in front of the stage where they do the "meet the princesses". Just as the parade music started a family barged into us and preceded to blonk their children standing on the benches right in front of us. I tapped the boy on the shoulder and made a gesture to get down. Then came the rude comments, god knows what they were saying as we don't understand french, but it was obvious they werent pleasant, the woman then told my husband to stand up and shut up as he was only a child and needed to see. Simon told the woman that if he stood up then the kids behind him wouldn't be able to see.
This really annoys me and im really sorry if anyone sides with the french family because they had children but its not the case, Disney is to be enjoyed by those young and old and if they had gotten a place well in time then all well and good, we had been waiting an hour and they turned up just as it started, pushed to the front and expected to hurl their children in front of us so they could see. I had great delight in telling her what she could do, polietly of course and that if they wanted a good seat then they should get there in good time. If looks could kill, we would have been dead as we walked away from the parade when it finished.
We got back to the hotel to get on the 6pm VEA back to CDG, this is when the fun started. A couple we spoke to couldn't get on the earlier bus, then the 6pm bus turns up and he states only 12 seats then, so a very rude family barged their way forward and jumped on the bus before the others that had been waiting quite a while. We didnt get on this, but a representative for VEA turned up (must have thought we would riot ) and told us another bus was 5 minutes behind this one, thankfully it turned up around 6.15 and we were on our way.
We arrived at the airport around 7.20, check in opened early for our 10pm flight so we checked in, had a wander round and then went through. All looked good, board kept displaying "on time", blimey we thought this is a first for Easyjet, we might fly with them again, hmmmm think we spoke too soon.
Our boarding cards say 21.10 boarding, so we wait by the screen for our gate, 21.10 comes and goes, finally at 21.40 our gate is shown, gate 7, we all make our way over there only to be stopped by secruity. They are tuffing everybody out of that section due to secruity reasons.
Once everyone was out we then had to go through a further secruity check, open out bags and carry on luggage once again and have them sifted through this, god knows what they thought we had bought in duty free, but we all weren't very happy.
Anyhow through we went, 21.55 came and bing up goes the delayed screen, first off it showed an expected departure of 12h00 and we were all gobsmacked, then it changed to midnight, you can imagine we werent happy bunnies at all.
The worst of it was that no one told us why, we are just expected to sit there. Middnight came and eventually a bus turned up to take us to the plane, still not having a clue why we were delayed, we boarded the first bus, got to the plane and they kept us on the bus for about 10 minutes, then only opened the front set of doors, thus came lots of unhappy shouts.
Once we were all on board the captain announced that due to nasty weather in the south west of england there had been loads of delays with planes trying to fly around it all.
We eventually pulled into Luton at 1am, we were supposed to get there at 10.30pm. Once through passport control we eventually got home very tired at 2am.
Unfortunately due to this, it kinda put a dampner on our weekend away, and I will definatley not be flying with Easyjet again. We didn't get a free drink or anything, and the cabin crew were very snappy.
Sorry for the moan, it was just very annoying. Aside from the DLP was very sunny and alot of fun, apart from the rude french family on last day.
I thought this was going to be a quick / short one, sorry I waffled quite a bit
