just got back from a magical week at DLP ( will do a trip report when my broadband is working again - another story!) but have to warn you all that when we got to the hotel ( sequoia, fabby :)) we walked out the back to go to disney village and got accosted by the Marriott hotel people - started offering the kids pin badges and "free shopping trip worth 80 euros" etc etc. the kids were very interested ( they are 5 and 7 but only just) and we listened to the schpeil, its not timeshare it is a hotel and disney endorsed yada yada etc. ten mins later we had signed up to go to a "short" presentation and paid 10 euros for the privilage! :omg: at the end of that we'd get the voucher for free shopping to the value of 80 euros, we came to our senses about an hour later but the bloke had gone and we thought that was the end of it. we left a note cancelling but spoke to one person who said it was a 3 hour presentation and really hard sell, i am saddened that they are allowed to do this on disney property and have written to DLP saying so :(
just keep your witts about you and stay away from the marriott huts at either end of the village.:confused3

i'm really sorry to hear that, i tend to avoid them, it is a shame that takes place on disney soil!

hope you had a fantastic time and looking forward to your report!

They tried to stop us a couple of times but we just said we weren't interested.

There was somebody on here though who did stop the duration and got the 80 euros to spend but 3 hours is a long time away from the parks.

Look forward to your trippie

ohhh nooo hope it didn't spoil yiur time away. Never heard of this before hope it's a one off xxxxxxx

I have stayed at the Marriot three times now and have a friend who went to the presentation there and enjoyed finding out more about the resort. It is a very nice timeshare resort and Marriot have a great reputation for their vacation club. It is a choice people should make for themselves and you should be aware they are going to try to sell you a product before you go. There is no such thing as a free lunch :)

Incidently Disney started the idea of vacation clubs and sell their own onsite in WDW. I don't think they'll remove the stands.

I wouldn't say it was a con, people are not tricked into handing over large sums of money for nothing, and people here have reported here that they got the 80euro at the end. And as Angela said it is a reputable company, not like the company's on watchdog. People have the choice if they go to the presentation or not, and it is expected that it is going to be a sales pitch.

This is excellent advice, Angela. :goodvibes

We have often been approached whilst walking through the Village but I would not say they are a nuisance. When we have said we were not interested we have always been left alone.

On a brighter note Tracey, I'm glad you had a magical time ~ would love to hear more about it. :wizard:
