DLP is a Disney Bargain even for Brits

I love both parks, but my heart will always be at DLRP.

That is how I feel, I love WDW however there is something DLP that feels familiar and more comforting, if that makes sense:confused3. I will keep going to both however DLP is my special place.

Ok, i will add my thoughts to the fray.

I am a WDW girl through and through. i love the fact the weather is always hot. I love the fact that you can spend 2 weeks there and still have more to see and do. I love the fact you can also do other places like Sea World and Universal. I love American food (most of the time, although it doesn't love my hips!) and i love the friendlyness out there.

However i can see the flip side of the coin. DLRP is SOOO much more convient to get to (and no time difference :cool1: ). You can go there for just a few days, and still come back wanting more. Also as the parks are getting bigger and more developed, there is more to do and see than ever before. Plus you are right next to a city full of amazing culture rather than the swamps in Florida.

I haven't been to DLRP in a long time (my family are DVC members in Florida), but i am hoping this trip will re-kindle the love I have for it. My heart will always belong to WDW, but i can appretiate the reasons why people prefer Paris, and im willing to change allegences! ;)

Also people who say Disneyland California is cheap, are kidding themselves. We spent a heck of a lot of money there, more than we would spend for the same time in WDW. Great experince, but doesn't come cheap!

Look at the stats comparing like for like. Disneyland, if you stay in similar hotels and eat similar meals works out slightly cheaper. I used the disneyland hotel and the contemporary/Swan as comparison hotels. For food, I specifically compared at DL, Whitewater Snacks for breakfast, Rancho del Zocalo for lunch, and the Blue Bayou for dinner. At WDW I used the Mara for breakfast, Flame Tree BBQ for lunch and Le Cellier for dinner (I think very comperable restaurants). DL worked out 12% cheaper than WDW (mainly to be fare the cost of flights to LAX are cheaper, as are the hotels and tickets).

But we went to Animal Kingdom Lodge in December 2006 and Disney's Grand Californian March of this year. We ate similarly in each resort, and bought the same amount of souvineers. I spent less money in California.

Now if you were staying off site and eating at off site hotels, then agreed, WDW can be cheaper. But as I have been taking the flames on the Florida boards, the experiences are not comparable. I compared similar hotels, restaurants, flights, transfers and park admission. Anyone who chimed in with WDW is only $10 a day more because they stay in a villa, blah, blah, blah either:

a) does not really worry about "the Disney experience" so does not care where they stay and therefore to them it is ALL about the parks.

b) is super loyal to Orlando, that they will bring in spurious evidence to back up their arguement

c) is illiteratre or simply did not read the article properly.

I don't hate WDW. Not in the slightest. I just simply do not think it offers the quality and therefore the value of the other resorts. And for so much money and time, I prefer to go to Paris (but if I could be anywhere it would be California or I want to see Tokyo Disney Sea).

I just skim read the thread over on Trip Planning.

I hope not all tourists to WDW are semi-racist, narrow minded and easily bored. Enough to put anyone off going!

How can someone get so bored with DLP after just one day they have to spend the second in their hotel :confused3

Don't think I'll venture away from this part of the boards again :rotfl:

:( off for a read! lol

i don't know why people try to compare the 2 ,and sl@g off those who prefer one over the other, for whatever reason

each to their own eh :)

Never been to WDW, would love to but everyone's got preferences... For us, it's very easy to get to DLRP and I think that's why we pick DLRP over WDW. And also, our DD2 is still too little to appreciate WDW forget about spending 8-9 hours on the plane (that scares me :scared1: )

Maybe in a few years time we'll finally get to WDW and then I can compare but for now, I'll just enjoy DLRP as it is and be even more excited when I see the excitement on my girls' faces ::yes::

I haven't been to WDW for a long time! And can't wait to go next year.

Of course they are going to be different, but isn't that their charm?

I hate small minded people....

Why acn't people see the good in all places? It's not like one of them is a ghetto and the other an Ideal place of perfection.

Like I prefer the Indiana Jones at DLR but LOVE the castle at DLRP, but you don;t hear me saying oh Indina jones in DLRP is for idiots.

What a joke!

Sorry, rant over!

Battle of the Disney Resorts!!:rotfl:

I think the point of the excerise is beginning to be missed on both threads- a comparision of quality and value between the resorts, however the experiences arent comparable. Everyone has different preferences for their experience, therefore people base there opinion of good value on those preferences.

Exactly my thoughts. I totally understand why people would like a WDW-type holiday, the different parks, a potentially hot and sunny holiday, longer away.

But I can also get why people would rather visit DLP, proximity, walkable, cheaper (like for like), more manageable climate, sights of Paris/France.

I wouldn't dream of being rude or dismissive of those favouring the first type of holiday.

I think you can go into a holiday in a negative way and that's why some would dislike DLP. If I went to WDW I would view it as a totally different experience. It'd be like comparing boyfriends. They all have the same anatomy but each has different perks or irritants. It just shouldn't be done! :rotfl:

Battle of the Disneys!! :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Also, in reference to the title of this thread, I disagree.

5 nights at CSR with flights can be done for the same price as my 3 day trip to SL.

I haven't missed the point, it's just there's not much to add if the facts are, like for like DLP is cheaper.

It seems to have annoyed some people but don't know why :confused3

Ah really that's interesting.

It must be hard to compare like for like when there's so many deals on flights, deals on hotels, possibly different low seasons (?) etc. I've seen some great last minute deals in the past too.

Yeah, but there's no point comparing I don't think.

Of course florida will be more ££ as you have to go for 2 weeks at least, whereas 4 days in DLRP will cost you less in food and souvenirs and stuff.

Thats what i'm saying- ppl have started to turn this into a comparision of which resort is best and park bashing-thats personnal opinion. Yes davewasbaloo stats show DLP to be cheaper but people define value based on the experience that they wish to gain

Can anyone post a link to this thread, i can't find it!

Am i just being a bit silly? :confused3

Exactly! I can see the merit in both. I have been to 3 Disney theme parks and love them for different reasons. I don't think that any park is better than the other, because you are not comparing like with like. WDW is so much bigger ( which is good and bad) and spread out with a lot more choice in term of hotels, waterparks and themeparks, that its hard to compaire it to a more delicate and (in some peoples opinion) better quality DLRP. DLRP has to fight hard to keep customers, so will have lower prices, as it hasn't made profit since it opened (although its getting close!). That would lead some people to think that without WDW and other ventures gaining a lot of money and helping keep DLRP alive, may of gone a long time ago. Just speculation, but it makes sense to me.

The reason why our family will pick Florida is because we can be assured of a few days of nice weather if you pick a good season. My mother hates the fact that the weather in Paris is so like the weather in the the UK, very unpredictable and oftern wet! My mom likes a hot holiday, and who can blame her! We are also in a position where we can afford it, where as the holidays of my childhood were spent at DLRP and Centre Parcs until we could afford to go further afield.

It really depends what you consider is a top priority, quality, value, choice etc, and current situation.

However i do begrudge those who say they wouldn't at least try another Disney Park, they are so different and all so great! I think they are limiting themselves so much! Both those who only go to WDW, DLRP or DLR, they are all so different, and all good in their own ways. I would encourage anyone to try them all!

Anyone want to help fund a trip to Tokyo? :rotfl:

It's not like one of them is a ghetto and the other an Ideal place of perfection.

Exactly! But some people almost imply this!! I'm delighted that they love their trips to WDW, but I would rather they didn't use unfavourable (and sometimes unfair) comparisons of DLP to make their point.

have poste on outher thread, each to there own but where to op gets a lot of sick if the use of his facts which are all over the place. Viva la diffrance
