DLP in January - what are crowds like?

Hi,

DH and I just got back from WDW and had a fab time so to combat my withdrawal symptoms we have booked into the Newport Bay Hotel (Admiral Floor) for the end of January. As we've never been there we have a few questions. What are the crowds like then given that kids go free and that they have 'Magic Unlimited'.

And speaking of Magic Unlimited, can you really just stay on the rides for 2 or 3 goes without having to get off?!!!! It sounds too good to be true!

Also, are the rides identical to the ones at WDW i.e. Rock n Rollercoaster, Pirates etc.

And finally, can anyone direct me to a website/link that will give me some menus for the Newport Bay restaurants and their room service? I need to know how much to budget for our 4 days there.

http://www.dlpfoodguide.com/resorts.html though I'm afraid I don't know about room service. Also I've never been in January so I can't help you there but other people will be along tomorrow who will know all about it.
As far as rides are concerned PoC is very similar to the one at WDW but longer and there is a restaurant by the water's edge. Phantom Manor is very similar to the Haunted Mansion too but with an added section at the end. IASW is very much like its WDW counterpart as are most of the Fantasyland rides but there is a Pinocchio ride at DLP too, an Alice in Wonderland maze and a Casey Junior train ride. Indiana Jones is a rollercoaster at DLP not a show. BTM, the railroad and HISTA are very similar but there are quite a few things that you'll only find at DLP such as the dragon under the castle, adventure isle, the arcades up both sides of Main Street (not games arcades - covered walkways really but beautifully themed), the gallery "upstairs" in the castle, Legends of the Wild West in Frontierland, Buffalo Bill's dinnershow in the Village and of course the studios park though it is nowhere near as big as MGM at WDW. Lots of lovely things to see and do!!!!!

There will be almost NO croweds, specially midweek. We have been there this January at it shows 0 minutes waiting time at Peter Pan around noon

Yes you can stay on IASW, POTC, PM, Pinnochio and Stoudio Tran Tour. At RNRC you have to leave the and go back through the backstage entrance.

Hi Eloise

I have booked for 20th - 23rd January so I am hoping the crowds will be light.

Although many of the rides are basically the same as in WDW, my family and I actually prefer some of the DLP versions. BTM, PoTC,and IASW are all better in our opinion. The train around the Park is far better as there are actually things to look at as you travel. The Dragon is a lovely feature and the Castle overall is just prettier.

Although it isn't on the scale of WDW and the Studios are a bit disappointing in comparison with MGM, DLP is wonderful and we feel we are very lucky to live so close.

I'm sure if you go you'll really enjoy youselves and it is such a short journey compared with WDW.
