We are taking our 6 year old to DLP for xmas. We go 1st class on eurostar on christmas eve morning and stay for 4 nights.

We are booked for dinner at Cafe Mickey for christmas eve and then Christmas Lunch at our hotel Hotel New York.

We have managed to get some fast track passes from ebay so that should help with queues.

Any advice for us over the xmas period. This is our 1st trip and looking forward to it.

Wear LOTS of layers. It was excruciatingly cold last week. Be prepared that the cold will really take a lot of energy from you, so pace yourselves and you really need to get early nights if you want to keep enjoying the parks (the winter opening hours help with this :) ). I personally, because of the exchange rate, would take lots of crisps and nutri-grain bars etc with me, as is very expensive at present.
Eat a MASSIVE breakfast so that you only have to really eat your first proper meal later in the afternoon (saves £££)

The parks are gorgeous though, and you'll have a great time! :thumbsup2

We did exactly the same thing last year with our (then) 6 year old DD.

It is a lovely way to spend Xmas. We went to Buffalo Bull on Xmas eve and then went to the parade which was busy, but then they always are!

Christmas Day was lovely, we started off by having breakfast at Cafe Mickeys and then went to see Father Christmas in his grotto. After lunch we saw Mickeys Magical Christmas show which was really good! It really is the way to spend Xmas Day.

The crowds were very good, busy but not bad. However Boxing Day lunchtime onwards was manic :scared1:

The best advice I can give you is make use of the EMH (if you are at a hotel that allows it), eat early to avoid the crowds and do something else in the afternoons when it is busy (and I mean wal to wall people, not fun) and then go back in the evening when all the lights are on and it looks very pretty.

We are off on Monday for 5 nights, so it can't have been too bad!!!!

Have o good trip:santa:

if it was as cold as the beginning of this week thermals are a must .
If you get a choice have your breakfast in the Manhattan restaurant rather than the park side diner ,imho much nicer and less chaotic and more civilized
We found having a healthy snack was difficult to find and if you just want a light meal in the evening we thought it was hard to do especially if you dont want chips with everything.Food and snacks generally rather expensive ,2.50euro for a bottle of water, go into the petit casino at the station ,cheaper there ,also have wine and beer, mini bar expensive in HNY too.I would take my hairdryer next time as the one in the hotel is the old fashioned attached to the wall type and doesnt get very hot and its in the bathroom .
The emh are brilliant and well worth getting up for ,we came back to have our breakfast at 10 am and timed the walk from our room in HNY (in the furthest corner from the entrance!) as 12 minutes stroll into the park. as we didnt like eating too early in the morning.
Make sure you use your fast passes we managed to get 2 rides in the half hour slot with our park ticket and ebay passes.
Cafe Mickey is good fun but we found we had to attract the characters attention sometimes as we didnt have a small child with us , and make sure you are hungry ,very filling!
Try not to let people push you out of the way if you are waiting to see a character as queing is not quite as polite as it is in the UK !! and take a mat to sit on if you are waiting for the parade the ground/seats can be wet/cold.
HNY has wi-fi but no internet facilities if you dont have a lap top

Wrap up warm, it was literally freezing last weekend/early this week, so lots of layers are a must (I ended up with a vest top, long sleeved top, short sleeved top, fleecey jumper, fleece jacket and waterproof on top, tights under jeans and waterproof trousers with thermal socks to stay warm!)

Take snacks with you, food was costly and if you are staying on site, then do EMH and then pop back to the hotel for breakfast and eat lots!!

We got back last night and I would urge you to ensure you have waterproof boots, it was very wet underfoot and my leather boots were soaked through.
