Hi all
I've not visted this site since 2009 - it was invaluable when we were planning out 2009 summer trip to DLP. Enjoying reading some of the recent trip posts and info.

We recently settled my late parents' estate (lost dad in 2009 and mum earlier this year ), so I've decided to treat me hubby and our 5 year old daughter to a few days at DLP. We have been looking and are thinking of going for new year (31 dec to 2 jan)

Has anyone been for new Year? Any advice? do we need to pre-book restaurants? Do things close early? or are they open later? Any special events?

Any advice or info gratefully received
Many thanks
Susan

Hi, sorry to hear of your losses.

New Year's Eve is extremely busy and if you want to eat at a table service restaurant it really would be advisable to book in advance. Some of the restaurants have very expensive menus on New Year's Eve, you can see which ones by looking at the paper or online brochure. The ones that aren't listed should be normal prices.

The park will be open until late with fireworks at midnight. I've not been for New Year myself but others have reported that it is extremely busy, especially waiting for the midnight fireworks and therefore may not be the best place for small children. I hope I haven't sounded too negative but I just remember what others have reported, and if you weren't planning on being in the park at midnight then it won't affect you. Anyhow, have a look at the trip reports as there are a couple from New Year there.
