DLH Worth $800 More?

If you are going to spend time at the Hotel, than it is. We were at DLH last week and my kids spent more time in the hotel/pool than the parks. I'm sure you could get a room do that you could see the fireworks. That is how we watched them. We loved our stay there and will likely not stay off property again. As a pp said transit to/ from the parks is convenient and you cannot beat emh.

Zbugz- Hi I am a T5 para full time wheelchair user. I have been to DLR many times. I have only stayed in the DLH once many many years ago. We usually stay at GCH because of the proximity to the DCA entrance and DL. Last year we booked 14 people with less then a weeks notice for the last Mickey's Halloween party and all the Disney hotels were booked so we stayed at the Sheraton Anaheim hotel. Our room had a roll in shower, bars, raised toilet etc. The best part and the reason we stayed there was they had wheelchair accessible transportation to the parks. One of their vans about 20 passenger has a lift. You just call the bell desk and they have it ready. They drop you at the drop off for DL. When you are ready to leave you call them about 15 minutes ahead of time and they send the accessible van to pick you up. Since ours was a whirlwind last minute sweet 16 we did not use the pools etc. we were in the parks late each night.

IMO, PPH is not worth it. It's farther, and it just doesn't have as much of a great Disney vibe. I think either do DLH or GCH, or just stay off site. We stayed at PPH our first year and it just didn't have the "magic". Then we stayed two years at GCH, and two years off site. GCH really is the best, but it's big $$$.

We are planning a trip right now and dh is trying to talk me into staying at DLH, so this thread is good timing - for him. :-)

This is how I feel. We stayed at PPH and I don't think it's worth the extra $. Haven't stayed at DLH, but if you'll be spending a lot of time in the room it would probably be worth it. We stay at the parks as long as possible and like a free bfast. So CCI would be a great option, close, lovely, and cheaper. I'd take that $800 and either go back again ;), or at least book nice restaurants (blue bayou, etc.). That's just MHO.

Whatever you decided, you'll have a magical time!!

Hi JeannieNM, My daughter is a T12 paralytic from transverse myelitis and/or a tethered cord. That's good to hear about the Sheraton. I considered them briefly, but might have to take a second look. Thanks!

Really we only plan to be at the hotel to sleep and for one afternoon/evening and a couple of hours the morning we fly home. I was thinking for $800 we could do the BBQ, Blue Bayou, Plaza Inn Character Breakfast, Sunday morning brunch at Ralph Brennan's, and Goofy's Kitchen and still come out ahead. But that first hour in the parks and the decor IS worth a lot... :scratchin

We love the DLH. We have only stayed on property and stayed at all three and the DLH is the best and totally with it.

I would save the money - it sounds like other than the room decor and the EMH, the kids would have more fun doing awesome meals. Think of all the memories made there! Put some money into decorating your off site room all Disney :D
