Personally I would just go with what they give me and if I did not like it I would ask for a change it is everyoones personal prefrence. HAVE FUN!!!

Oh Yes, they may ask you when you make reservations what view you want but nothing is guaranteed and there are really only 2 choices: standard view or pool/resort view. Standard is the parking lot view from Marina or Bonita and a few lower level rooms facing the pool in most towers as well as I think floor 2 facing DTD which is really considered no view at all. Once we had a standard room right over the waterfall but because it was floor 2, it was considered "standard" and not an upgrade but better than a parking lot view.

Resort/pool view is what we pay extra for but you can "request" all you want for the DTD view but there is no guarantee that you will get it! Resort/pool view is in all 3 towers facing inward toward the pool or facing DTD in Sierra Tower. I read somewhere that the Sierra Tower DTD view only makes up 15% of all the resort/pool view rooms so somebody is not getting that-lol! Resort or Pool view rooms are the same price! I always said that they should have a 3 tier system, standard, pool and DTD view and charge and book accordingly because lots of people are disappointed to pay for the resort/pool view and not get what they wanted.

So we have paid for "the" view many times and only got the DTD view 2xs! As I said, I am not sure it is worth it with the addition of all the "new" noise but it sure is nice to watch the fireworks from the room if your kids can not stay up late like ours. Just be warned that if you DO pay extra for the view, it isn't guaranteed to get a resort view as odds favor a pool view. After this last trip, I am not sure what to "request" in terms of the view cause I really need my sleep at DL-lol!

My3kids, thanks for posting that about the noise with the fireworks view. That would definitely be a negative in our book, we LOVE a good night's sleep. And with 2 young ones, we don't want them up all night, then have to drag them out of bed early to go to the park. Would not be a happy situation.

We have paid for a view room, so sounds like we'll go back to our original idea of the Bonita Tower with waterfall view.

And about the request for a specific view (assuming you've paid for one), I would make your request before you arrive. I was told they make room assignments 3 days ahead of your arrival, so if you have a particular request, make it before then. They'll tell you they can't guarantee anything, but at least your request will be known at the time of the assignment. If you wait until check-in, you might have lost your chance at it.

This is very interesting. I booked a concierge room and was faced with a pool view choice or a resort view choice for a theme park view. I had no idea that they could move me from my choice of a view of the parks.

If you book a concierge room with a pool view or resort view, then you are paying more for the room, and I would think it more likely you would get your pick. I don't know if you are guaranteed the view you request or not; if all the concierge rooms are booked and all requested the resort view, I would think not everyone could get it. You could call the hotel to find out for sure if it is important to you.

If you pay for a standard 'view' room (paying a bit more for the view), you can request a specific view (pool or resort), but they specifically say they cannot guarantee that you will get your choice. The only thing you are guaranteed is that you will get one or the other (ie. not be looking over the parking lot.)

If you pay for a standard room, you can also request a view, but it would be less likely you would get it, especially if the hotel is very full. You are not guaranteed a view at all.

Im booked through DVC I wonder, is there a certain place they put you or can you still request?

Here's our experience;
We also booked thru DVC, came for a short visit to DLR, got 1 nite at DLH and 2 at GCH. We arrived Tues checked in at DLH and were upgraded to a suite. It was a great corner room, view of the pool, DTD, and both parks. We really liked this room, and this hotel. Leaving GCH this morning, but had an impressive first stay at DLR.
