I have been working extra hours lately so it looks like I could swing the DLH for our trip in Oct. But I am wondering if it would be worth the extra money and it is quite a jump from Hojo's price to DLH.

We stayed at Paradise Pier 2 years ago and I liked it ok but really a hotel is more for sleeping and maybe the pool, but in Oct. not sure if we would be able to use the pool.

I tend to be "frugal" (or cheap as my kids say) but this will probably be the last trip with my DD before she joins the USMC after high school next year so I really want it to be memorable. (I'm going to spring for the Fantasic Dessert viewing).

So sorry for rambling on but any views will be greatly appericated!

We are about to stay here this coming weekend for five nights, I have never stayed before but many say it is the most Disney of the hotels in the park. We decided to stay because of our son. He loves everything Disney, but he is also 3. We chose for location, theme, pool, and extra services. We did look at god neighbour hotels but did decide this would make the vacation just that much more memorable for him. You have to look at want you will use at this hotel and if you think staying in the park has advantages for you and your family.
It is more expensive and we could have stayed somewhere with more room for less money, but we look at it as though we will only take him once for his first time. If and when we go back, we may stay somewhere else, but the first time should be magical. For you and your family it won't matter where you stay if you're all together.
:goodvibes

I do however only take 1 "real" vacation per year and sometimes not even every year.

When we do DL, we stay on site. I have never stayed at PP but I have stayed at DLH and GC. Love them both. GC is a bit too pricey for me so for our next trip it will be DLH. I highly recommend it.

I think it really depends on how much you are stretching your budget. If you really do spend most of your time in the parks, then it is probably not worth the additional dollars. As an alternative way to make the trip special, you could spring for the Fantasmic Dessert package or take a special tour.

It really depends on how you handle for DL vacations. We stayed there last Oct and it was our best trip yet. The weather was great. We were at the pool every afternoon. It was by far our most relaxing and fun trip yet to DL. We were there for 7 nights and 8 days so we had plenty of "down time" in the day to relax at DLH. If you'll be at the parks all day and are using the hotel as a place to sleep only, I'd save your money and stay at hojo's. If you really want to stay at DLH, try splitting your stay and book a night or 2 at DLH, that way you can still stay onsite and save money.

Thank you for all the suggestions, I think I am going to go for it. I know DD will love DLH. It will be an early (very early) graduation gift. She is a good kid and I want her to have a great vacation. Hopefully the weather will be warm enough for the pool.

I am agonizing a bit over this decision too. WE have ressies for next week at the Desert Inn and Suites and the DLH for 5 nights. The difference in price adds up to $384. On the one hand that seems like a lot and on the other it doesn't seem too bad.

One thing is, I feel kind of guilty for holding onto both for so long. Hopefully the hotel I drop can sell the room at the last minute. I meant to make my decision today but I just can't seem to do it.

Also, I do like the idea of a suite at the Desert Inn. DH likes to watch TV shows that I don't feel are appropriate for children. :sad2:

Any thoughts anyone? Can anyone talk me into talking my DH into the DLH? We are not huge "Hotel" people and are easy to please.
