1. Which tower do we want ? (we booked standard room)
Our priorities are closeness to the walk to park and proximity to pool. I have read posts about characters being in the lobby, so if we were in the lobby tower would be walk through the lobby each day to/from park and have the chance to see characters or do you not really walk through the lobby unless making a special route?

2. For those of you who make requests for certain towers, do you phone ressies to do that or just wait until you are working with the check in CM?

3. Coffee- is it true that complimentary coffee is available in the lobby of each tower? And are there to-go cups and lids?

4.Renovated rooms- I am not sure what the renovation schedule is. Are they working on one tower at at time, one room type at a time, or just randomly selecting rooms? By may what is the chance and best way of getting an updated room?

5. Grocery delivery- we previously stayed at Hojo and had Vons deliver groceries, very easy and convienient. Will DLH recieve a delivery for us? Will they store cold food if needed?

6. Are there any towers that have rooms on the ground floor- eliminting the need for elevator

thanks everyone. we just decided to book DLH and I have not really paid much attention to the DLH posts since I never really thought we would stay there. I would search but still waiting for the function to come back up. So, thanks for putting up with me.....

We have stayed at the DLH a few times a year for the past 10 years or so, so I can answer some of these with confidence.

1. Which tower do we want ? (we booked standard room)

The proximity to the the pool should be good for any tower--they are very close to each other--and in the middle area is the pool. You don't really walk through the lobby unless you have a reason to--but I will tell you in all the years we have been going there, every SINGLE time we check in--Goofy or Goofy's son comes into the lobby. We have literally never missed him. He also walks through the pool areas and around Goofy's Kitchen. You might consider eating at GK one night there--it is the main dining option at the DLH, and lots of character face time and pretty good food.

All of the towers are within walking minutes of each other (this is not a huge property--it probably takes less than one minute to walk from one tower to the next)--but the Dreams tower is the closest to downtown disney and disneyland. It really doesn't matter much, though.

2. For those of you who make requests for certain towers, do you phone ressies to do that or just wait until you are working with the check in CM?

You can make your reservation for a specific tower early--but they always tell you to call back about 5 days before you check in. By the time you actually are checking in they probably already have your room all picked out, and they are very reluctant to change it at that point.

3. Coffee- is it true that complimentary coffee is available in the lobby of each tower? And are there to-go cups and lids?
I have seen coffee in the towers, but never gotten it. I don't know about the to-go option, either. We always get room service coffee, so we can get our jolt just as we wake up.

4.Renovated rooms- I am not sure what the renovation schedule is. Are they working on one tower at at time, one room type at a time, or just randomly selecting rooms? By may what is the chance and best way of getting an updated room?

I called about this last week. The Dreams tower is the only one that has been renovated so far, so if you want a room there request a Dreams tower room that has already been renovated. It wouldn't hurt to call the day before you get there just to double check that they have your request. The problem is that I believe that the only rooms that have been renovated are the ones with pool/resort views, so you have to pay extra for those at this point...so you may not get it. People pay a lot for those rooms, and if you pay for standard--you will probably will get standard unless there is lots of room.

5. Grocery delivery- we previously stayed at Hojo and had Vons deliver groceries, very easy and convienient. Will DLH recieve a delivery for us? Will they store cold food if needed?

I believe they will deliver there, and you can put the cold items in the fridge in the room. Just remember this is a tiny fridge!

6. Are there any towers that have rooms on the ground floor- eliminting the need for elevator

I don't think so.

Just to add a few more things from our experiences at the DLH:

1. Which tower do we want ? (we booked standard room)
We booked a standard view and requested the Magic Tower, which is where the lobby is located. Our room looked out onto the main entrance and parking lot, but looking to the right we could see the back of Splash Mountain, the Matterhorn, the top turret of the castle, and a little of Space Mountain. We also had an AWESOME view of the fireworks from our room!
We never saw Goofy, but then we didn't really walk through the lobby. When exiting the elevators, you turn to head toward the pool area to get to the parks thus avoiding the lobby.

2. For those of you who make requests for certain towers, do you phone ressies to do that or just wait until you are working with the check in CM?
We make our requests when we call to make the reservation. Once we requested the Wonder Tower and the put us in the Magic. Upon check in, I mentioned my request for the Wonder and she gladly moved us.

3. Coffee- is it true that complimentary coffee is available in the lobby of each tower? And are there to-go cups and lids?
There is coffee with cups and lids in each tower. DH got his morning coffee to go on our way out every morning! However, when he got it later one morning he noticed it didn't taste as good as earlier in the day. It wasn't as fresh and he said it almost tasted burnt. But that could have just been a fluke on that one day.

I don't have anymore to add on the other questions.

Feel free to ask any more questions you have!
