Anyone been recently? It states a view of the Neverland Pool or DTD. Since the pool is under construction, is the view less than, uh, premium? We check in next Thursday, and the CM I spoke to today (added a night!!) asked if we'd like to add a DTD view request since the pool was under construction.

Because the area under construction is now a smaller percent than what is finished it is not a bad risk but a risk never the less. A DTD view would be ncie because it will for sure put you in a room closer to the gates. May save a few minutes here and there. Also will give you little peak at the parks too.

We were there June 4- June 8, and I booked a premium view, but only paid for the old style room. There are no longer any old style rooms as they doing the Magic Tower now. They put us in the Wonder Tower and gave us a view of the Monorail pool (well supposedly- We actually had a view of the pond and geyser because we were on the 4th floor and trees blocked our view of the pool). I was happy with the view. If they put you facing the Neverland Pool, unless you like watching construction, then you will not care for the view. Last Wednesday afternoon (when we left), they had about 10 guys with jackhammers in the Neverland Pool tearing it apart, which was actually kind of fun to watch (we were watching from the new restaurant). It was incredibly loud though! I have a feeling Disney was using that many people at once so that they could get the loud part done as fast as possible (1 jackhammer- 10 jackhammers- what's the difference? It will be loud either way, and 10 jackhammers sure gets the job done faster). I will give you a warning though. We were in the parks morning to night, so the construction did not bother us, but you will see it going on if you are at the hotel during the day. Also, currently because of the Neverland Pool Construction, if you are put in the Wonder Tower, there is no way to the lobby, stores, restaurants in the Main Building, except to walk all the way out to the Hat (by Downtown Disney) and then turn back to the lobby. They have all the interior paths blocked right now. I don't know how long it will last. You will however be near the Monorail Pool and the new bar and new restaurant, so it is a trade off. Also, last summer we stayed in an old room, so this was our first time in the renovated room. In the Wonder Tower, we had ZERO cell phone reception in the room. We did not have that problem in the old room in the Magic Tower. I don't know if it has to do with the new glass or what, but we had to go down to the lobby where the doors were opening and closing to the outside to get service. Also, we ate at the new Tangaroa Terrace for breakfast and for lunch over the course of the trip. Breakfast was not good. I had a pastry and took two bites and threw it away. DH had the breakfast wrap and said he would never order it again. Lunch however was good. We both had the barbeque chicken sandwich with Sweet Potato fries and agreed that as far as fast food went, it was great! Have a wonderful trip! We didn't find the construction a problem at all, other than just the extra long walk from our tower to the main building was a bit annoying!

Perfect!!! Just the kind of information I was looking to find. I'm not too annoyed by construction (more excited about what is coming!!), but when you upgrade the view, I'd rather have just that...an upgraded view. ;) Thanks for the info!! :) It's our first stay at DL/DLH (lived in SoCal, so never stayed "on-site" as a kid), and I'm pumped!

I will say the DTD side can be a bit noisy. When we were there there were concerts going on (the in-laws room faced DTD). The trade off was we could see parts of DL, watch the fireworks from their room, and even see part of the higher spurts of WOC! We didn't hear the construction noise on the other side (though the view was less than premium, IMO, due to the fact that it was Jauary and a dirt pit around everythign but the neverland pool).

Thanks! I think we'll be ok with the noise. The kids and I sleep with music (Dtunes to be exact ;)), and my mom and gma can fall asleep anywhere. Can't wait!

Glad to help out a fellow Norman Okie! As far as the DTD noise thing, at least when we were there the outdoor bands and entertainment were shutting down at 11 when the stores closed. Have a great trip!

Are you still in Norman? How funny!! I don't anticipate we'll be in the room before 11, so it may not even be an issue. Well, the kids might be in with gramma, but they can sleep in the middle of the park, so... ;)

Yes, we still live in Norman, so we are disboard neighbors! That is pretty much us too. We know when the bands pack up, because we often see them doing it as we are walking back to the room! This trip, DH and I decided to use our resort fast passes on Star Tours after we saw World of Color figuring DD (5) would fall asleep in the stroller right after the DL fireworks ended, and she fell asleep DURING the fireworks, even though we were walking closer and closer to them. She can sleep through anything.

Wonder if we've seen each other around!

My gpa was the veteran of the day at MK a couple trips ago, and DS(then)4 slept right through it...including to WDW Band basically surrounding him. :rotfl:

Did you guys survive the crazy storm??? Our yard looked like it was covered in SNOW from all the hail.

I think maybe we have. I actually remember you from the WDW boards quite a while back, because we were posting on the same thread and I remember noticing you were from Norman. I think back then you had a picture that had you in it with the kids didn't you? There was a time right around then that I could swear someone walked right by me at the mall that I thought looked just like that Norman lady's picture on the disboards. I remember wondering if I should turn around and say something, and then I thought if I do it is for sure not going to be her and she is going to think I am some sort of crazy person. :rotfl:

It was a loud few minutes last night!!! We are on the very northwest side of norman, so we got 2 fairly short rounds of quarter sized hail, but the worst of it missed us. I don't think we have any damage. DD (5) freaked out a bit due to the noise. We were lucky because we were less than a mile from where the big area of power outages and some damage were. Did you lose power? If so, do you have it back?

How funny! If you see me again, yell at me!! :rotfl: And if it isn't me, try not to be too embarassed. ;) I'm pretty easy to spot, though. Not many Polynesian/Native girls walking around town. I've seen a few people around here and OKC with DISboard shirts (like, personalized ones from the DISign board), but I've never been in a situation where I could stop and chat. What school will your DD attend? I work at Truman Primary, and I know a few teachers at Roosevelt.

We lost power for a few hours, but we stayed with some family anyway. It came back on while we were gone. We have lots of friends still without power and some who had it and have since lost it (I'm guessing due to trying to fix other problems...oops!).

I'm glad you got your power back! DD will be at Roosevelt. We actually looked at some houses at one point that would have put her in Truman Primary. That's funny that she was really close to going to your school. If she had, I wonder if I would have recognized you the first time I saw you!

Well, we Disney nerds do look normal to the untrained eye. :rotfl: I work with the PE teacher at Roosevelt in the summers. I also know the librarian there. Hope she has a great time there!!
