i know people have been wondering about the state of the DLH and its pool. So I thought I'd post the the official info from Disney travel - hopefully it's of help to someone!:)
**Disneyland Hotel
The new 'D Ticket' Pool and the 'Monorail' Pool (shallow kids pool) and slides will open May 25. On the same day, the Never Land Pool and Spa will close down for renovation until November 2011; last day of operation for the Never Land Pool and Spa is 5/24..

Tangaroa Terrace, Trader Sam's-Enchanted Tiki Bar and the Disneyland Hotel Cabanas will open on May 25.

thanks for the update. So this means:

Monorail kiddy pool area will be open this summer, but the Peter Pan pool will be closed for the rest of the summer (and till completion).

I am glad to know this because we are going to be at the Grand Californian in June, and I was hoping that the pool there wouldn't be crowded with DLH people. I know they may still use the GC pools, but it shouldn't be so congested.

For people with older kids or adults who want to have a true swimming pool (plus hot tub), it is probably better to stay in either the GC or PP until the renovations of the Peter Pan pool (Neverland) are complete. The Monorail pool is a shallow "slides" pool and kiddy play area.

It is also important to realize that if you are paying extra for a "pool view", you may be paying for a view of a construction area (The Neverland Pool). I speak from personal experience! Just fair warning to all of you. Since the renovations began, I have always requested a Downtown Disney view off Dreams tower, but they have been placing us in a pool view instead. You can always put your request in, but that doesn't mean you will get it.

Interesting as posting about these specific dates have changed over time.

Where did you find this and how current is the data?

Matt is correct about the timeline changing--that can always happen with construction. I know when I called to make our room requests at the Grand Californian, they told me the same thing--the Monorail slides and kiddy pool area open in the end of May. It didn't convince me to switch to the Disneyland Hotel (despite it being our favorite on property hotel)--just because I knew the other pool would be closed for the summer and the pool area would still be a construction zone which I wanted to avoid.

But anything can also happen with the timing--they could get hung up with permits or anything else construction wise.

For me it is like Lucy telling Charlie Brown to kick the football and her promising not to whip it away at the last second once again.

Charlie Brown: You just want me to come running up to kick that football, then pull it away so you can see me fall flat on my back and kill myself.
Lucy Van Pelt: This time you can trust me. See? I have a signed document testifying that I won't pull it away.
Charlie Brown: It is signed. A signed document. I guess if you have a signed document in your possession, you can't go wrong. Maybe this is the year I finally kick that football.
[Charlie Brown runs to kick football, but Lucy pulls it away]
Charlie Brown: Aauugh!
[falls on his back]
Lucy Van Pelt: Peculiar thing about this document. It was never notarized.:goodvibes

Does anyone have any recent pics of the pool construction? The last I saw were from about a month ago. Just curious about the progress! :)

The info came from my travel agent - he copied me the info sent from Disney to him. So up to date as of yesterday. I'd say the specificity makes it reliable - they could have been vague about that dates (end of May say), and that would make any complaint managment easier!

Whilst it's still not ideal, hopefully people at the DLH will enjoy the new pool, and that might reduce the pressure all round - i know my kids would be tempted to try it!

Thanks for posting! I was really considering switching to DLH for the renovated rooms. But now that I know the Neverland pool will indeed be closed for the summer, I'm sticking with the GCH. It sounds like the DLH is going to be awesome when the renovation is done though. I'm sad that we are missing it!
