We just booked 3 nights at the Disneyland hotel on points for next month (GCV) not availible. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions that we should could know about staying there on points? Or anything else?
Thanks

We used points for 3 nights last September and had a great time. We live on the east coast and don't get to DLR very often but really love the laid back vibe; WDW can be so frantic at times.

The hotel and pools are newly refurbished; the rooms are tasteful with nice Disney touches--love the light-up fireworks headboards. It's about a ten minute walk to the parks through DTD.

Be sure to carry your DVC card. There are LOTS of DVC discounts at almost every restaurant in the hotels, parks and DTD, including counter service, so ask everywhere. If you have time, visit the DVC preview center next to DLH where they have a full-scale model of the Aulani rooms--no a hard sell but they'll give you a pin and lithograph.

Enjoy!

I just booked two nights on points myself :-)

Premium view since I had points I had to use up... Although I am not really sure what that means other than a higher floor. I sure hope I get a DTD View, but will most likely get a pool view ha It's all good though.

Thanks for the tip on the bringing the DVC card! :thumbsup2

Does anyone have a room number chart?

Thanks. Any suggestions/hints with checking in and room locations?

We also had to stay at DLH last Nov 10-13 due to no availability at GCV - our first stay outside VGC since 2001 - and we were glad we were given that chance -the new DLH is wonderful - the staff were great -I called their guest services and requested for balloons and a Duffy bear for my dd - was quoted service fee + amt of product - they did a wonderful job and got me better deal and waived the service fee - made a reservation for 2 standard view rooms to use up pts and requested them to be close together - travelling with my brother and his family 2 young kids - sil and dd's birthday on the 12th - we were given adjoining rooms and upgraded to view rooms! we stayed at Fantasy Tower - 8th floor - 2623 /2625- above main entrance with DL Park View and the view of the fireworks with those huge new windows were just great! rooms are quite spacious as well - the room my brother stayed at is even bigger than ours with a sleeper sofa ! Would highly recommend DLH if we cant get VGC ( just need more pts though :() - after few weeks home was surprised to get a 5x7 Thank You postcard of Seven Dwarves from DLH - all these years we stayed through DVC first time we got a Thank You card for our stay ;)

We stayed there a few times on points last year (rented last-minute expiring points since we don't have any to spare!). The Adventure/Dreams Tower is the one that's closest to the park I think (we asked for it and got it both times), also got upgraded without asking to a "premium" pool view. You're treated just like a non-points guest except for not having to pay for parking. :thumbsup2

There's more detailed descriptions on the DLR boards of the rooms to request, etc.

Its slightly farther than the VGC but rivals it in features and service IMHO. Really hoping they add some villas to it eventually so I can justify buying more points! We really enjoyed the monorail pool.

Since you're staying there anyways, I'd recommend Goofy's Kitchen for a character dinner. I usually don't eat very much so don't care for buffets, but I feel like that's one of the few times I actually got every penny's worth out of eating. Also some wonderful character interactions, even with the adults.

Thanks for all the info. We all can't wait to get there"

You have to try Trader Sam's by the pool. It continues the story of the Jungle Cruise boats.
