DLH; Leaving engagement ring in suitcase, safe?

I want to thank you all for all the info i've pulled from you over the past weeks, you've been so helpful! We are finally heading for DLH tomorrow morning and will be arriving around 10am, so we will have to leave our bags with them, I am proposing tomorrow night and do not want to have to carry the ring with me all day, i want to be able to go back to the hotel around 3-4 and get it then, my question is how safe is it to leave it in my suitcase? I have it wrapped up in a pair of my shorts in one of the compartments, should I worry about leaving it there?

Hi That’s Awesome I asked my wife to marry me at Disneyland did it on the POTC ride and we also stayed at the DLH . I can suggest a couple of things. If your driving leave the ring hidden in the car until you check in and get your room they have safes in the room ,my wife had no clue that i even used the safe when we left after everything was done with. Maybe buy a little suite case lock and put it on just in case your not comfortable enough leaving it down there. Or maybe when check in just tell them upfront I have a valuable inside your bag and just have them ensure you it will be okay( of course not with your fiancé around) I hope maybe some of these suggestions will help you out good luck

You would probably be okay, but I would inquire with the front desk to see if they have a hotel safe they could store your ring in for you. Many hotels do have safes that they are willing to let you use. Explain the situation and that you obviously can't use the in-room safe, since you are arriving early. They may even decide to check you in early.

The suitcase should be just fine with the bellmen. The suitcase storage is in a secure area. If you want to be REALLY sure, then send your GF off on an errand as you are finishing checking and get a safe deposit box at the front desk. They are at the far end of the desk and if you tell the front desk person what you are up to and that you are in a hurry before the GF comes back from the fake errand, then you they should be able to get you set up and on your way in less than 5 minutes easily. You have to fill out a card, open the safe deposit box, fill it up, then lock it back up. Should not take long.

My BFF was proposed to last weekend in DL. Her DF had the PPH hold the ring for him until he was able to pop the question. But your room should have a safe, I would just use that. Congratulations!!

What if you called them now, and have them put info "guest needs to use hotel safe, be quiet about it if girlfriend is there" *or something like that* on your reservation?

I would either use the hotel's main safe or carry it with me. Since you might not be able to get into your room that early, you can't guarantee that you can use the room's safe...

Could you propose earlier in the day? I would take it with me in my pocket or a camera bag where I know exactly where it is at all times.

When my DH asked me, he had it in a zipped jacket pocket. He carried the jacke t with him throughout the day so he knew exactly where it was every second. (It was probably 4-5 hours before we got to where he had planned the big moment.) Just don't let her wear the jacket, no matter how cold she is... hehe, that almost blew his surprise! hahaha!

If you DO chose to leave it in your luggage at the hotel / bellhop storage, i would NOT tel them there is something valuable that you are extremely worried about. I would just tell that that it is important to you that your bags are behind a locked door as you are concerned about their overall security. Why draw attention to the fact that there is something extremely valuable to the only people who have direct access to it behind that closed door? Just my 2 cents.

When I stayed at Paradise Pier Hotel earlier this month I kept my laptop in my locked suitcase when I wasn't in the room and it was fine. I'm sure the ring will be safe if you do the same.

I know it is safe in your room. My granddaugter lost her iamond earing in the room. She thought that she lost it in disneyland. She started to crying. I felt so bad. We went back to the room because she felt so bad about loosing it. When we opend the door to our room the maid was behind us and told us that she had found the earing.

Backing up...since they were checking in long before check-in time, that is why he couldn't be sure he could use the room safe. He was going to go back to the hotel around check-in time to retrieve it...you can't plan on getting your room at 10am!
