I was thinking about booking the DLH for 1 night for our trip the other 4 nights is either the hojo or desert i havent decided yet.

The AP rate is 159 a night standard room is it worth moving for 1 night just to try it out or not even bother with it ?

I was thinking of doing this the last day I have or would it be better the first day ?

Last year when we went to the DLH, our room wasn't ready until 5pm. How much time would you actually be at the hotel or in the room. My vote would be that it is not worth the move for 1 night. If you were able to do 2 nights, I would say yes!

I would stay. I dunno, for me, 1 night wouldn't be worth it, and I hate packing up anyways, so having to move just for a night seems like a waste of time for me, unless say, that night was an anniversary or something special like that.

Just my opinion.

We did this in June. We stayed at Hojo's for 4 nights, and then the last night at the DLH. We did this so we could swim in the pool all day, and enjoy the magic of being there for that one night. It was totally worth it, and added to the whole trip.

It's a big hassle packing up and moving, check in to DHL is late, check out is early, and the cost always ends up more than you think it's going to be once you add taxes and resort fees.

But for me, yeah, it'd be worth it.

I'd do it the last night of your trip, especially if your last morning is a magic morning. Note, while you can't check in the night before you'll be staying at the hotel, I have gotten a receipt showing I was checking in the next morning - which I was able to use to get into early entry. This way, if early entry is at 7am, you don't have to go from HOJO to DLH and back to the entry gates in the wee morning hours. And getting early entry is a great perk!

Also, even though check in is late, you can keep your luggage stored at the front desk and use the pools and facilities before you get your room. And go ahead and try for a room as early as possible, there's a teeny tiny chance, you just might get a room early (it happens, just not often).

I'd make sure that you're family is on board with this too, as it will require packing and moving on everyone's part. And for many, this is just too much of a hassle to make it worthwhile.

I am planning this for our Feb trip. We have 6 nights at HOJO's and will do the parks for 3 or 4 days. I plan to have the 7th night at DL Hotel. I will pack everything up and have one bag only for our last night. We will check out of HOJO, taxi to DLH in the morning, drop our stuff, get what we need for access to the pool area and then probably spend some time at DTD, then the pool, get the room, do Goofy's Kitchen for Dinner, more pool time in the morning. We have 4 other families at the HOJO that I hope some of whom will come and spend some time with us in the Peter Pan pool, as that would be a special treat for them also. I say it is worth it. I am not likely to spend an entire trip at the Resort, as I can justify more trips if I spend less on hotel expense. Hope you have a great trip and look forward to hearing what you decide and how it turns out for you.

For me it would not be worth it. Not when I'm rarely in my room or at my hotel anyways. I'm always in the parks. LOL And I have a family of 6 so it's a huge pain in the butt to pack and unpack.
Plus although I've never personally stayed at the DLH, I've just read so many iffy reviews about it on here and other boards, that I'm not sure I'd want to pay for it, even at the rate of $159. :confused3

But whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a wonderful time. :wizard:

Wanted to add that when we did this in June, they had our room ready for us at 9am! So we were able to just drop all of our stuff off, go have breakfast at Lilo and Stitch, and then head over to the parks. Around 1pm we went back to the hotel and swam for hours. That made it worth it all by itself, since none of the offsite pools can compare IMO.

Had dinner at the ESPN Zone, then went back to the hotel room where we could see the fireworks PERFECTLY from our Standard room. It was a really nice way to end the trip.

Also, if you happened stay at dlh on a Sat. night, you could have early entry for both sat. & sun. added to your trip.

Just something else that might make it worthwhile.;)

VERY good point.

Stay wherever, then Sat morning bright and early check in to the disney hotel, get your slip that lets you into MM. Play Sat MM, play all day, sleep, and before you check out, get Sun MM too.

Nice call, blue donkey!

Personally, I would do it. I love hotel-hopping. We travel lighter than many, and rarely unpack fully. So it's easy for us. And since we don't find the onsite hotels to be a good value most of the time, checking it out for one night, with the possiblity of two MMs (especially since we have APs and don't otherwise get ANY MMs), would work out better than paying those rates for the entire trip.

I would do it if you could take advantage of the hotel perks, ie. the pool, fitness center, the grounds (waterfalls/koi ponds). It really is magical!!! Good luck on your decision!!

I would totally do it too:thumbsup2 although I noticed that you are going mid Oct. and that is a very busy time at DL...AP rates are booked up for alot of Oct. so I would definitely recommend that you make up your mind in a hurry and call to see if its available....and making sure you are aware that you have to pay for the night at the time of booking...good luck:goodvibes

We would have used the MM had it not been a Friday night we stayed there, and Saturday was blocked out on our AP's. Since we had been there all week, I didn't want to spend the extra money on black out tickets. But that would have been even better, had we been able to take advantage of an MM. With AP's we missed not having it!

I have the $179 AP7 rate booked at DLH, is it $159 now, or $179 depending on the day? I am confused..... TIA

We were just there for 3 nights and got to DLH around 930am and our room was ready!! So you may get lucky and the room may already be available for you, but I wouldn't bet on that. They will however give you room keys (that are not yet activated) so you can access the pool etc. I think it would be worth it if it was a non-park day. If you are going to the parks, then you wouldn't get much benefit of changing hotels.

Well my wife and I both have APs but I have to buy one 6 day park hopper for my 3 yr old daughter.

And well I will get a MM with her ticket where do you advise I get a 6 day park hopper.

You guys have a point that if I stay at the DLH I get a MM with the APs too so my next ? is when is MM what days Im staying sun-fri checking out fri.

$179 is the current best rate which is good July and August. After Labor Day the best rate drops to $159 for a standard room.

And I would definitely make the move for one night to the DLH. I love the pool and the walk back through DTD. The bar. The waterfall. Etc.

MM is Sun/Tue/Thur/Sat.

For my family it would definitely be worth moving over to the DLH for Thursday night.....here's why:

(for a 9am Gen. Adm. opening / 8am thursday MM)

- I get the family up at 6:15 & we pack. (nab some breakfast items)
- Drive over to DLH at 7am & dump the bags with the bellhop.
- Park the car & pick up the hotel slip at the front desk (giving us MM).
- In line at 7:30-7:40am for MM.
- Tour & pick up FPs for 3 hours.
- Take the monorail back to the DLH & either:
- Have brunch with Goofy.....or a light lunch & swim.
- Check in if you can or if not....swim.
- After nap/swim etc. back to DL/DCA for the evening.

Friday:

- If not going to park, sleep in & swim etc.
- If going to park be there at rope drop & tour for 2-3 hours & back to hotel to pack & swim for an hour (prior to leaving the hotel).

Have fun. :thumbsup2

There is no way I would ever consider staying at 2 hotels. I couldn't imagine having to pack up all of our stuff and 2 kids and move. I think DH would probably kill me to if I decided to do that.

I wouldn't move..it would waste time.

I would go this time..stay where you have booked.:goodvibes

Take the money You were going to spend on the onsite upgrade and put it in savings.

Then add to that savings and Next trip stay several nights onsite.:thumbsup2

Time is money when it comes to Vacations.:confused3
