We are going to a travel agent tomarrow to plan our May trip to DLR. I'd like to have a resort/DTD view from DLH. My last minute questions are:

1) can we request a resort/dtd view?

2) what are the new names of the towers? (old- marina, sierra, bonita)

3) can you request a tower or just a view (i.e. standard, resort/dtd) ?

thanks a bunch!

:) :)

You generally pay for standard, pool, or resort view unless you book concierge. If you pay for standard view, you can request the tower you want or view as sweetly as possible, but it may not happen. If you really want it, you better pay for it. I did pool view Sierra tower which was great (I actually booked standard and smiled sweetly). New tower names are Magic Tower (Marina), Dreams Tower (Sierra), and Wonder Tower(Bonita). Dreams is my fav, Magic is the front desk, Wonder is the farthest off.

Zukeeper, thanks for your helpful posts. Did you book std, then smiled sweetly and asked for upgrade when you checked in? Is that based on availability?

thanks!

can we request a resort/dtd view?
Yes. Basically you pay for either standard/no view or standard/view. A view room has either a pool view (facing into the courtyard between the 3 towers) or city/DTD view (facing outward.)

can you request a tower or just a view (i.e. standard, resort/dtd) ?
You can request a tower or view, but nothing is guaranteed. If you pay for a view room, you are guaranteed to get a view, but they might not be able to give you the specific view you requested. I've heard of one family that requested a DTD view but were given pool view. If they CAN, they will do everything possible to give what you requested. It's also possible (as the PP said) to get a view even though you didn't pay for it. This is more likely to happen in off-season when there's more availability. :goodvibes

Dreams/Sierra Tower is supposedly the most popular, and Wonder/Bonita the least, probably due to its further distance from the park. But on both our trips I requested Wonder and fully expected to get my request, and both times we were put in Dreams. I have no idea why, I could see if I'd requested the reverse! :confused3 :rotfl:

I did book std and requested Sierra (Dreams) at check in. It was last week of Aug so technically high season, but not really since many schools start that week. They did need a little encouraging at check-in. I was given Marina and I said my mom would do better being closer to the monorail and suggested Sierra. They said you paid for std and I said oh I know but if you happened to have anything in Sierra that is not taken I would really appreciate it if I could be there. I was checking in at 10ish and I think they give out the unoccupied rooms first (it was a loooong line FYI). They said it would be some time before I could get the room which was no problem since I was in Disneyland!

I was getting 2 rooms at DLH so every penny was tight, std was the only option. If I wasn't on a budget I would always try to book concierge with an AP rate. My last trip was PPH concierge and check in was a whole different story. That's the life!
