And yes, I realize this is completely subjective but I figured the more opinions, the better. I think my decision of DLH or PPH is going to come down to the CMs. We are staying Oct 9-12 (Tues-Fri) and the crowd calendar looks like it is going to be on the slower side.

What have been your experiences with the CMs at DLH and PPH? Looking for honest experiences, no holds barred - which ones wowed you more?

Just got back from a stay at PPH last week. I have not stayed at the DLH, but I can say that the CMs at PPH were friendly. Everyone from the front desk, gift shop, bell hop, to the mousekeepers were nice. On a side note, many folks comment negatively on the elevators (slow). The longest we had to wait was about 3 min. It's all about timing - we left early and came back late. Having said that I can see how the wait times can be very long if there are a lot of people. There are 4 elevators that go up of which 3 of these can come down.

I have stayed at both and as far as the CMs go, you really can't go wrong with either hotel. But if I was push to choose, I would give the DLR just the teeniest of edge.

Hope that helps.

I just wanted to comment on the PPH elevators too. I've stayed at PPH many times over the course of 11 years and sure, there are times when I'e had to wait a little bit longer to get in one because they were full, but honestly, that happens a lot in my area of town anyway (there are a lot of office buildings in my neighborhood and it is common to wait a long time for elevators). I don't think I would have thought twice about the PPH elevators being a big deal if I hadn't read so many negative comments about them here on the DIS! I just wasn't all that affected or impacted by the elevators - they didn't seem like a huge deal to me. Maybe I'm odd!:rotfl2:

Other than that, I've stayed at the DLH a lot, but not recently. So I can't comment on their CM's since my stays were so long ago.

The PPH people are usually quite friendly to me. They have given me 2 free upgrades to theme park view rooms, free 8x10 character pictures, a free reusable shopping bag for the holidays, etc.

The only negatives I have experienced with my stays at PPH were one time (in 2008), when I had a room with a 'haunted' drawer that kept jutting out and poo-smelling water from the bathroom sink (that was room 513!), and a couple of billing mix-ups (where they either tried to charge me for something that was free, or they tried to bill me the full amount even though I had just paid off the room - things like that). But it always works out in the end, and my overall experience with PPH has been a good one.

Sherry - thank you so much for commenting on all my threads - you have a wealth of info!!

:rotfl2:You're welcome!

I don't know if I have a wealth of info about too many things, but it just so happens that the things you have been asking about are things that are "in my wheelhouse," as the saying goes, and areas where I have a lot of experience. There are plenty of areas about which I know nothing!! If you were asking questions about Ariel's Grotto or Cafe Orleans, for example, I couldn't help at all with those, or offer any kind of insight.

A lot of times I will just see the topic or title of a thread - not looking at who the OP is right off the bat - and comment, if it is something I know a bit about and if I have time.

One thing about the elevators at PPH, if you go up and then down they seem to go faster. My DH and I have stayed twice. We like it. Both times theme park view and concierege. Room 1500, and then room 1408. Yes, DH got a laugh out of the last one.

Our only issue, was that I requested a King room three times, on our last trip, and did not get it. Once when I booked and then two other times after that. The front desk staff was very apologetic, gave us a Fast Pass we could use anywhere in the park (no WOC or RSR) and then sent up a gift basket with coffee and chocolate (pics of that in my signature)

I honestly couldn't say one was better than the other. Overall, Both hotels have some fantastic CM's and both have some not so fantastic CM's. PP theme Park view gives a really nice view of WOC and DLH DTD view gives a great view of the fireworks.

If it helps, we will be there when there are no fireworks (midweek) so that isn't a huge factor to me. We are trying to spend more time in DCA this trip since we spent a ton of time in DL last time.

In that case ... choose the GCH :lmao:

Well - I could - I can get it for an awesome rate (53/nt more than DLH) - but is it worth it? Or am I going to be forever spoiled and never want to stay off site :rotfl2:

Also, what are the odds of getting a decent room in the GCH - this is one of those once in a lifetime type of things for us (staying onsite at DL) so I don't want it to be ruined by having to walk almost as far by getting a poorly placed room.

I have stayed on site the last 3 times at DLH and GCH. GCH has spoiled it for us as far as the walk. Our next trip we are looking at PPH only because of our budget. The CMs at both hotels were awesome!
