DLH CL vs. DGC CL

I keep going back and forth on which one to choose.


I would really like DLH CL just due to the fact that it is different than any hotel at WDW (where we are regulars.) However, by the reviews I am reconsidering my choice.


Is it true you have to be seated in the E-ticket lounge to receive a wine or beer at DLH? Really? It isn't self serve? Kind of silly to me, but I guess they have that policy for a reason. Does that hold true for DGC as well? Anyone know?


Does anyone know if the DGC has a seperate sink area from the shower/toilet? I saw that DLH doesn't and that was a bummer. Having the seperate areas is perfect for getting ready in the morning.


And is all of DGC CL rooms together by the CL lounge? That would seal the deal since I really don't want to be unlucky and get stuck in another tower at DLH.


Thanks for any help regarding this. When you splurge for CL you really want to get the most out of it!

We have stayed in all 3 DLR hotels and DLH is our least favorite. To us it felt the same as PP, but with a better pool and bigger price tag.

GCH is by far our favorite.
The CL is on the sixth floor and you may be on the 5th or 6th to use it (When you check in ask for 6th). The lounge is relaxing and easy to use. There is a better selection of "hot" food. For the wine reception you do have to be there, but we have taken beer back to the room. Timing is everything. If you go to the CL right before the park opens you may encounter a line. AND watch "closing" time. They do close up before the park does.

Oh...Yes GCH does have a separate sink area. Very nicely done. Some of the rooms even have a little vanity area to do hair and makeup in the hall between the bed area and changing area.

DLH does not have this.

If you have children the bunkbeds at GCH are very nice, too.

I think we will be going with DGC. All around it seems like it is more of our style. Wanted to veer into something new and different with DLH, but going too off course may not be the way to go!


Going up a floor for the CL lounge isn't a big deal, we have done that before at BWI at WDW. But hiking across property to a different building would irritate us. (yeah, we're spoiled.) But I will preference a 6th floor room, thanks for the tip!


We do have a little one, DD4, and a bunk bed would be cool. But I'd be just fine with a king size bed with a sleeper sofa.


We have found that the seperate bathroom areas are ideal for privacy and time saving. That is a big + in our planning.


Great, we are beer drinkers anyway so that is perfect! By any chance, do you remember what kind of beer they had? (any local beers or something other than Budweiser?)


How is the pool at DGC? I was also concerned about DLH's monorail slide (too big for my DD.) I think the pool at DGC had a smaller slide which would be the better way to go.

I remember they had Sam Adams and others, but I don't remember any local brews.

There are 3 pools. One that appeared to be unofficially for adults only. One smaller one a little warmer than the others and the one with the slides.
The slide pool is perfect for little ones. There are two slides. A big one (about the same size as the biggest monorail slide), and a little mini one for tots. The first time we stayed there my now DD10 was only 5 and she LOVED the mini slide. My DD12 (then 7) would go down the big slide and I could sit where I could watch them both. They also have the life vest that all Disney pools seem to have. There is also a large hot tub that we like when it's colder.

We are going for Christmas this year and the pools are a huge selling point for us.
We have stayed at Good Neighbor Hotels and the other DLR Hotels and will now only stay at 2 hotels there. If we are on a smaller budget we stay at PP, but our favorite (and this years Christmas present to ourselves) is the GCH.
