Dave's ...

Although to your point, it's your money that is guaranteed, and not the room.

I second Dave's as a very reliable, reputable company. I have used him to rent DVC, and when my request was not available, had my money promptly refunded.

I'm talking about paying $3,000, the DVC Member cancels the reservation - that sort of guarantee. No place will refund that $3,000 as they have already paid the member most of the fee. Your only option is suing the Member using your rental contract.

I have be using Paul Little - DVC Rental Store. He is awesome. The guy answers emails at 1AM.

Although I think Dave's gives you a $3,000 Gift Card to any of his members, when he says "If your request can not be fulfilled, you will be given the opportunity to book available rooms/resorts." Paul doesn't even do that, at least I haven't seen him say so on his page.

I always do my own research and go with Private DVC owners at $10/point or less. And the good part is that with each successful reservation I do for me or my friends, my list of trusted DVC owners grows. When I'm ready to start booking, I always ask those owners first, and in fact I have reused an owner one time. If you don't trust your research when going privately, then use a credit card in your paypal transaction and with most credit cards you'll be protected from fraud.

I worked the front desk at DLH and PP for a while and I don't buy the previous comment about the CM's doing nothing about it. I admit we all have bad days, and maybe they caught their CM ona bad day, but there's no way that management would've ignored the complaint. Even in the busiest season, each of the hotels keep appx. 5% of the room vacant for such emergencies, so being moved out of your room for any legitimate reason is quite possible.

It certainly did happen. I think I've even talked about it here before. We called about it and they said that the hotel was booked and the only available rooms were suites, and that if we wanted to move, we would have to pay the difference in cost.

As others have said, what makes something worth it to one person may not to another.

My DS7 and I stayed at HOJO last year, which was about a 7 minute walk

For our 2013 trip I went back and forth between the BWPPI (which is directly across the street from the DL entrance, technically even closer than the DLH/GCH/PPH), renting DVC points or even splitting a stay 3nts BW/2nts DLH.

In the end for me, no those higher costs were NOT worth it because with that money I would rather spend it on:
Fantasmic! Dessert Package
Discover the Magic Tour
Extra character dining experience
More treats or "nicer" sourveniers.

To ME those things are what I decided I'd rather spend the extra $$ on. I showed my now 8yo DS the pool at BWPPI and he said it was great, that it was a pool and thats all he wanted. And yes I showed him the DLH pool too and he thought it looked neat but in reality so did HOJO and we didn't use it that much.

Anyway, long story short --too late -- it all depends what you value and what you want to experience while you are there!

We stay at the DLH or we won't go, it is that simple. We have stayed at three of the Good-Neighbor motels over the last seven years and were not impressed. We have stayed at all the towers at the DLH and always have been pleased with our rooms and ammentities. The CMs at the DLH have always been very helpful and professional. Take all that and add in all the extras you get with being a disney guest, why go elsewhere? We budget for our trips to DL and we budget for the DisneyLand Hotel. Finally, the DLH is a resort and we treat it that way. Enjoying everything that is available.....:cool1::cool1::):):cool2::cool2:

I agree with this. I would rather go less often and stay at the DLH than go every year and stay offsite. Each person has their own preferences and priorities though.
