DLH and GC sold out November 2-5? How come?!?

Hi all, I'm a brand-new member but have been haunting the boards for a while reading all you crazy Disney fans' great information!! We are planning to take our five-year-old son to DL this November--he broke his arm last week so it will be a nice treat after the cast comes off.

Anyway, we really want to stay onsite either at DLH or GC and for some reason the dates that we picked, that seem so very ordinary, are booked. Anyone know why Wed. 11/2-Sat. 11/5 would be sold out and what the chances would be that some rooms would open up in the coming weeks as we get closer?

At this point, we are looking to instead go Sun. 11/6-Wed. 11/9, before the Veteran's Day holiday occurs later that week. Does anyone have a sense on how crowded those days would be, with a holiday hanging out there (Friday)...we'd arrive on Sunday afternoon and use our tix that day to enjoy the parks until closing, then be there all day Mon. and Tues., departing Wednesday.

I don't think anyone can say more about the differences between GC and DLH. The posts I've seen are really helpful, I am assuming an average 5yo will like DLH better? We originally had thought we'd "go big" and pick GC outright as "the best" but I'm now very torn. I guess my only other question is that we stayed at the DLH while in college in '93 and it was nothing special...from what I've seen they've really done a lot to it since then? It was surprisingly unoriginal and did not have a lot of Disney touches. I've seen the great GC pictures on the forum...anyone know if there is a similar post with pix from the DLH? That might help me.

I know I've asked lots of questions, thanks to replies to any or all of them! I sure appreciate the inside info from you all.

Hi. I can't tell you why those hotels are booked, but I wanted to write since those are the dates I am going. I had wanted GCH and it was sold out of all but concierge level over a month ago. So we booked DLH. My AAA agent just felt it was due to more people going during the 50th, but she wans't really sure. If you do wait and go the 6th you will get to see Small World which will be closed while I am there and more Christmas things will be going up!

I was able to get those dates with no problem a couple of days ago for the DLH, you may wanted to chek again. I also saw DLH available for those dates on Expedia and Travelocity! I hope this helps.

I have seen that happen a couple times where hotels say they are sold out, but if you go to expedia or orbitz or similar site, you can get the rooms you want during the times you want. Maybe it's an agreement that DLH and GCH hold X amount of rooms for those travel agencies. Give them a try.

There is a National RedHat Society Convention in Anaheim Nov 3-6 with their main day at Disneyland being Saturday. Most of their activities will be at the DCA. The attendees are staying at the 3 onsite hotels, so the hotels may still be holding rooms for this convention.
You may want to check back later in the month to see if those rooms become available. Also, as mentioned above, check the online hotel websites for rooms.
