dland's 60th pre planning

We are locals, but really enjoy staying near Disneyland for a mini nearcation now and again. Looking to stay at or around the Disney property for the 60th birthday party. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed with the lack of details that will go into the 60th, even though I'm not honestly expecting as much as they did for the 50th. With that being said, still looking to be at the park to celebrate the big 6-0. Where would you stay and why? For the 50th, that my husband and I stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel. Staying on property guaranteed we would get into the park. However, we recently just got back from a stay at the nearby Howard Johnson's and loved it. For the 60 however my DDs will not be traveling with us it'll just be DH and I. Thoughts? Suggestions? Input? Other rumors re the 60th you've heard?
