DL without the kids!

My DH and I went for our 10th anniversary and we had a wonderful time. I felt bad about leaving the kids behind........uh.......for about 10 minutes:rotfl:, and then we did whatever we wanted!! It was amazing.

We had a fabulous dinner at the Napa Rose, and we still talk about the food and our waiter Rodney. If you get him(he's worked there forever), please tell him he has a DIS fan:)

Enjoy! The 1 bedroom suite just tops it all off, doesn't it? By the way, I told the GCH that we were celebrating our anniversary and we returned from dinner to find rose petals sprinkled all over the bed. They also left chocolate covered strawberries and champagne! I suggest you let GCV know that you are there for your anniversary. Have fun!

I told Member Services when we booked that it was our anniversary. I will make sure we let the front desk know and get our buttons. We are owners at GCV's but have yet to stay there. WE have stayed twice at DLH and once at PPH, so I'm really looking forward to finally there. I can then say that we have stayed at all three hotels. :woohoo:

Hubby and I don't have any kids and while we love being the awesome aunt and uncle and taking our nieces and nephews to Disney, we also love going by ourselves. We enjoy long dinners at Napa Rose and also doing a spa treatment at Mandara Spa in the Grand Californian Hotel. That really recharges you for more Disney fun! The best part is just spending time with my best friend! :lovestruc Have fun! :goodvibes

I could definitely use some recharging. DH has been gone to training since the middle of July. He should be home the end of Feb. Luckily we have seen him about 3 weeks during this time, but I sure can't wait for him to be home. He is definitely my better half.

We decided that we deserved a nice getaway after the year we have had.

:lmao:

We told our 5 & 9 yr old but explained that sometimes parents need a vacation too. I couldn't hide a Disney trip from them......I have Disney everywhere when planning (ok, more when planning.....Disney everywhere all the time....lol) :rotfl2:

I don't think that I can hide the trip very long. I get way to excited for my vacations, even if they aren't to Disney!

Can you imagine sitting down for a meal and not having any spilt drinks, not having to get up and go to the bathroom 1 zillion times. Can you imagine going to the stores on mainstreet and not having little hands touching and knocking things over, imagine not having children beg for every toy they see. Can you imagine buying cotton candy and eating the whole thing by yourself?

That was us last December. We left our pirate:pirate:pirate::bride: children with grandma and had 10 days of bliss for our anniversary and my dh's 40th. It was soooooooooooooo much fun. We went on California Screamin and The Tower of Terror continuously. We didn't go on a single bugs life ride (I do love them with the kids though) We sat through Aladdin without one of us having to leave and do a bathroom run with a 3 year old. We ate at the blue bayou, did the fantasmic desert, had WOC meal and priority seating. We even did a character breakfast. We stayed till after midnight and we were there at the gates at opening.

My 10 year old knew where we were going and he thought that we deserved a trip  The others were perfectlly fine about it once we told them when we were home.

The worst part for me was worrying about making it home alive. I was worried about the plane crashing and leaving our children orphans. But we got home safe and sound.

Don't feel guilty. You're allowed some fun too. and like you said, it's not like they're missing out as they'll be there not long after. And when you go with them you'll be able to make it completely for them because you would have gotten so much stuff done for you on your adults only trip.

I went to DL SOLO without DH and my DS7 and DS6. I was very upfront from the moment that I booked my tickets about where I was going and why. I bascially told them that mommy needed some ME time. While they were upset, they understood, and I had a blast going to DL solo. I took over 1700+ pics the 8 days that I was in the parks. As I now prepare for our next trip tomorrow, I'm looking forward to showing all the things we missed on our last trip, and can focus more on family pics instead of attraction pics. I am treating the kids to a character brekki at the Plaza Inn as a special treat, but they don't know it yet.

DH and I are going without the kids just before Easter. DH has a conference for work there, so I'm tagging along. We're not telling the kids where we're going, either. Just a trip to California ;). I feel a teeny bit of guilt, but we did just go to WDW at Christmas time, so I'm not feeling that bad for them!! I'm pretty excited to be there with my sweetie . His conference will only run in the mornings, so we'll have the afternoon and evenings together (and I'll go solo in the parks in the mornings!). It's only 3 nights, but we'll have a good time!! --Katie

We told the kids this weekend that we are going to DL for our Anniversary alone. We told them to pick who they wanted to come for a visit and stay with them. They wanted my best friend from college to come. She is a very close friend and is actually the person we have set up to raise our kids if something happens to me and DH.

They were actually pretty good about it. The one having the hardest time is DS (5). He has only spent 4 nights away from both of us at the same time when DH and I were away on separate business trips. The are excited about my friend coming and they also wanted to make sure we would bring a surprise back for them.

Only time will tell if they will stay "ok" with it as the trip gets closer, but at least we can talk openly about it and I don't feel like I am lying to my kids.

Here are the things we are considering for the trip:

We are getting 3-day park hoppers and will be staying 3 nights at VCG in a 1-bedroom.

Blue Bayou (we always eat here and get a waterfront table)
Napa Rose (we are seriously thinking about the chef table package, but I need some more information)
Fantasmic Dessert Package
WOC Dining
DL Tour

Of course we will not do all of this, we will pick one or two things to do. Now I just need to narrow it down.

Someone called into the podcast Mousetalgia and described exactly what they experienced at the chef's table. I tried to remember which episode it was but I can't. I know it was somewhere between this past Dec and now.
I remember they were asked what foods they don't like, they had some unusual items they never would have ordered themselves and liked it. There was a lot of wine paired with what they had, and they were given a list at the end of everything they ate. It's a great podcast if you wanted to go back to Dec and listen through them to find the one on Napa Rose.

We are staying at the VGC in a studio, getting 3 day hoppers, and I have already made reservations for the Napa Rose chef's counter, and for the BB. May have to cancel the BB though, as my wife is not as into it as I am :(

We try to do a weekend getaway during our anniversary month every year. We usually go to Vegas or Florida in the past. We were hoping to go to Hawaii this year, but my father just came out of retirement and can't take that much time off of work. We were going to cancel all together, but my husband suggested Disney.

I have never thought of going just as a couple. It would feel so weird to not have the kids with us, but I think I'm reconsidering after going on a daughter's only trip last week. I liked the freedom of having a small group. We could go to more "adult" offerings.

After reading some of the adult only threads like this one, I've decided to give it a try! My friends will now officially think I lost it with yet another Disneyland trip! Maybe I'll just keep this one a secret.

Now to plan! We need to go during spring break week here, so crowds are going to be an issue. Wonder what the crowd projections are for the first week of April.

Can't wait to hear about your trip! Sounds incredible! I may copy most of your itinerary! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I need to catch up on my pod casts. I have fallen behind.

I love BB. I have to do it every trip. I am Cajun so the food is a must for me. How much is the Chef's counter at Napa Rose? I can't make reservations until May :sad1:

At least I get plenty of time to plan.

Congrats on your up coming trip.

I never thought that we would go without the kids until they were all out of the house. I am so excited and happy the kids are fine with it. DH and I really could use to us time.
