I have a question about rides with 3 kids (5,5,and 2) with 2 adults. What rides could we not go on with all 3 because cars only hold 2 people? Thanks!!

Hey!

I take my 2 daughters all the time, just me and them, so I've got alot of experience with the 3 people/car issue. Good news is: there's not much of an issue! :cool1: Most rides hold 3 comfortably and even the ones that are kind of a squeeze (Astro Orbiter) tend to be more annoying for the adult than the kids.

The only ride I can think of that we've not been able to do is Space Mountain and Big Thunder Railroad because the cars are 2 seats side by side and my kids are too young to sit alone. We did Splash Mountain last week with no issue.

Good news for you tho is that with 2 adults, the CMs are real good about letting you kind of custom fit your ride experience with unique group configurations. Meaning often times you could all wait in line for a ride like Space Mountain and then once you get to the front, one parent can stand with the 2 kids while another parent rides the ride with one kid. Then after that, you can swap and take another kid on. And then swap again. I don't know if it's a written rule or just something I've read about happening with certain CMs but it seems a pretty common way Disney deals with situations like the one you describe.

Have a great time! We just got back a week ago and I'm already jonesing for another trip! Good news is, we're going back in a few weeks! :thumbsup2

All rides can accomodate 3 riders. Enjoy you trip!

ETA: about PP comments, definitely do ride swap for rides to two 5 yo can Ride but the the 2 yo can't. And BTMRR: I've seen mom, dad and child squeeze into a row. But on rides you can ALL ride, you will have no problem fitting.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure if the 5yr olds will do SM or BTR anyway. Last time I measured they were 39.5 inches and they turn 5 a week before our trip. They may be too short or too scared. But I do like the idea of swap since they will probably want to do somethings the 2 yr old will not. Maybe we can swap parents and the twins can ride twice???
spidey...you sound like a vet...how old are your girls and do they like Fantasmic!

Jcw2- a vet? Ha! You'd be surprised by how hard core some peeps are about their Disney stuff. I'm only beginning to discover this amazing sub culture.

And I've only become a Disney freak since I had my kids (girls are 4 and 6). I always dug the parks and the Disney flicks, but they were sort of on the periphery of my existence before my girls came along. Before that I was much more into thrill rides and movies from Spielberg, James Cameron, Peter Jackson, Marvel Comics, etc. More geeky guy stuff. But since my kids, I've just fallen in love with the whole Disney culture. My home office is filling up with statues from OFF THE PAGE at California Adventure, we buy all the Diamond Edition blu rays, listen to the Disney theme park music in the car, and we've been season pass holders for the last 2 years (one of the best purchases I make all year). It's been a great way to bond with my daughters! And beyond that, now that I'm discovering all the Disney stuff, I just love personally love it. Disney is very inspiring!

Have a great trip!

ps. almost forgot. Regarding Fantasmic- my oldest and I went to see it a few months ago (before the dragon worked) and it was so crowded and so hard for either of us to see what was going on (even with her on my shoulders) that best I can say is: she was very into what she could see and both of us would LOVE to see it again but we're only going to do it when we get preferred seating because trying to find a place to stand- unless you get there 2 hours or so before (thus killing key fun time at the park)- is an exercise in frustration.

Thanks for asking this! We have a similar situation and I was wondering what we were going to do on the ride swap rides.

I think you can squeeze three on pretty much everything. Autopia was a little snug IIRC, but doable. And the nice CM that seated us even let us ride twice in a row, so each child got a turn to drive! Really nice, cause that line has a long wait, even with FP.

Can someone explain the requirements for Autotopia? The DL website isn't clear "Height Requirement: 32" (82 cm) or taller — with at least one Guest in each vehicle 54" (137 cm) or taller"

So does that mean that no one under 32" can ride even with an adult? My youngest is 32 1/2" tall, but I could see a strict CM saying he isn't tall enough and then we're left with 2 kids and one adult. And yes that ride line is horrible, even the FP.

IIRC, yes, you have to be 32" just to ride in the vehicle at all. Someone has to be 54" or taller to press the gas pedal. I'm 5 ft tall and I could barely reach it, lol. But you can sit next to a child and press the gas, and still let them steer/drive. Two kids and one adult should fit, we did. Then again, we are all pretty small, I can't remember how much room to spare there was.
