DL vs. WDW rides

Re: No PeopleMover at Disneyland

In the late 1990s, they used the tracks for an attraction called Rocket Rods. It was extremely fun to me, but the ride broke down often, and it caused permanent damage to the tracks, making reversion to the old PeopleMover impossible.

Is Astro orbiter even at WDW?
Yes, it's on top of the tower by Peoplemover - where the one in DL used to be. Personally I prefer the WDW one because it sits up so high.

Isn’t Soarin’ in DCA back to the original version?
Yes, though it's not supposed to be permanent. I haven't heard a date for when it's going back though.

Autopia in DL is MUCH , MUCH better than Tomorrowland Speedway in WDW. There used to be two - one in Tomorrowland and one across from Matterhorn in Fantasyland. They combined them into one large track that encompasses both, and upgraded the cars when Chevron took over the sponsorship. That was +20 years ago and I think Honda is the sponsor now? It could use another update. Just goes to show how outdated the WDW TS is.

Radiator Springs Racers, Incredicoaster and Guardians of The Galaxy Mission breakout are the big 3 you absolutely need to ride. get a RSR fastpass first thing. They go fast and it's not worth waiting in the standby line.

Depending on when you go, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion and It's a small world could have their holiday overlays which are a must do and are unique to DL.

World of Color is also a must. Fastpasses are given out near the little mermaid ride. (this one doesn't count toward your limit. I always grab it and RSR first thing in the morning).

Not sure when your going but currently DK is showing Soaring over California. If it’s still showing I would recommend that.

Luigi’s is small but it’s actually a fun little ride.

Also you didn’t mention if you were getting Maxpass. If you want to ride all the big rides you’ll need maxpass to do all you want to do.

I like Alice in Wonderland, which is unique to Disneyland. I like Pinocchio as well — now that's a weird little ride.
One of my favorite things to do with kids is have them touch the golden apple outside Snow White. They get quite a surprise! (you hear the witch cackling)

I can't believe nobody has brought this up yet, but Splash Mountain at DL vs WDW is very different. We live in Orlando so obviously have been on Splash here many times. You get splashed, your shirt might get a little wet. 4 years ago during my first ever trip to DL, we went on Splash and we were soaking wet like we jumped in the lake. In fact, we had to walk back to the hotel to change because we were soaked from the waist down, including our soaking wet socks and shoes. That has never happened at WDW. We weren't too happy!

I haven't been on the WDW version in quite some time, as it was closed the last time I was in WDW, but we got SO ABSOLUTELY SOAKED on Splash this year. We were two adults and they put us in the very first seats, and I am pretty sure that is what causes the amount of water, as we just dunk right in with our body weight sinking in and the water surges over the entire boat. There were two other adults in the very back (a few seats empty between) and they were nowhere near as wet, but were inundated.

Yup! The People Mover track in Disneyland is still up. It's embedded into so much of the Tomorrowland architecture that they can't really just taken it down.

So it sits there, quietly mocking us...
I’m going to look for this on our next trip!

Ok, I'll throw my two cents in, too.
We have been to DW many, many times and are going on our 3rd trip to DL next month. The rides that I love at DL and miss when I am at DW are:

Indiana Jones- I love Dinosaur, too, but the theme is so different that this is a must-do.
Radiator Springs Racers- Similar to TT, but a lot better. I think this may be the best ride that Disney has ever done because it is the whole package.
Guardians of the Galaxy- Quite a bit different than TOT and I think it is way more fun.
Alice in Wonderland- I love this ride and there is nothing like it at DW.
Space Mountain- One of my top favorite rides at DL and I almost never ride it at DW because it is so choppy.
Small World- better at DL
Incredicoaster- I was only on this when it was California Screamin' and hope that it is just as good.
WOC- It is awesome and have paid for the dessert party twice so that we can get a good view.
Pirates- much better at DL

Rides that are different and I like are:

Monsters Inc
Roger Rabbit
Storybook boats
Mater and Luigi- We really enjoy both of these rides.

Rides that I think are very similar so wouldn't bother unless I had extra time:

Splash
Toy Story
Soarin'
HM- Since you aren't there during the holiday overlay, I would only do this if you have extra time.

Have a great time!

We'll be going next June, so no fun holidays :(. And yes, we plan on getting Maxpass! We're too used to booking FPs on our phones in WDW so it was an easy decision to get it for DL.

Great - Be sure to watch for info on Space Mountain - it still may be Hyperspace Mountain. Usually they change over Space Mountain in May for May the 4th be with you and it usually stays that way for a month or two. This year I think it's still Hyperspace mountain.

Splash Mountain is my all time favorite ride at WDW.

We aren’t even riding it at DL. I have no desire to get soaked (which I did last summer). And the seating is weird on the DL version. I was a little too up close and personal with people I didn’t know. :scared:
