What would you do?

I'm pricing out a trip for the wife and I (no kids) to go to DL June 8 - 11th. I called Costco and got pricing information that includes:

Air from the SF Bay Area to John Wayne Airport and back
Disneyland Resort Express Roundtrip
4 day ParkHopper
Goofy's 4 Day Meal Plan
Free Character Breakfast
$20 Disneyland gift certificate
Costco Pin (woop)
Trip Insurance

To stay at the Pacific Pier = $1730.14

To stay at the Anabella Hotel = $1503.08

A difference of $227.06

This is an expensive 4 day trip anyway, so I'm wondering if it's worth the $227.06 to stay on property. What do you think?

I would stay on site for that price difference. And I would probably drop the dinning plan down to 3 days. It will give you some flexibilty in where you eat.

Yup. You don't want to be stuck with leftover vouchers

Are the dining vouchers only good at certain places? I thought that since they were coupons for $10 and $15 you could use them anywhere.
If not, then ya, I'll drop that down to the 3 day dining plan.

The vouchers do limit where you can eat; they are not valid in DTD, which is where some of the better eateries are, and if you hand over a voucher worth more than the cost of the meal/snack, you don't get any change back, either. And if you're short, you'll need to make up the difference. We opted not to do the meal plan, we'll just use credit card, Disney Dollars or cash.

The only real value of the meal plan is that the food is prepaid, it doesn't save you money.

Alex2k is right, they are not good in DTD. Also, some of the vouchers (the $5 snack vouchers) are not good outside the parks, so you can't use them in the hotel restuarants.

I would stay on site, totally drop the dining plan(too restrictive) and the trip insurance. I have traveled everywhere around the world and never had the need to use insurance..my two bits. If you paln well it should be cakewalk.

Jack pirate: pirate:

I too would stay on site and drop the meal plan. The first time we went we ended up getting the plan and did not use half of the coupons. We figured out quickly that it was cheaper for us to just pay as we went.
