Hello!

My daughters preschool is having a silent auction and one of the items to bid on is four, 1 day park hopper tickets for Disneyland/CA.

While I don't see us making a trip to CA, we travel to FL all the time to visit family (we live in Texas). My DD even had a Florida resident annual pass (bought by my parents).

Can DL tickets be used, or exchanged, for DW tickets?

Thanks!

They cannot be directly used at WDW.

Below is a copy of a reply from Cheshire Figment (former WDW ticket CM) about DLR tickets used at WDW that was valid at least in 2009. (Things may have changed by now.)

The other thing to consider is that if the DLR tickets in the auction are COMP tickets provided by Disneyland for charity purposes, the tickets may not have any actual monetary value, and might not allow anything in regard to WDW entry.

Cheshire Figment said:
Tickets at DL are treated as "straight line" as opposed to WDW tickets which are "front-loaded" for pricing. If you have a valid DL ticket, unused or partially used, you can take it to a Guest Relations Office. They can look it up to see how many days you have used of the ticket. They will then cancel your ticket any apply the unused portion to the purchase of a new MYW (or AP) ticket.

The following is an example with completely made up numbers, as I am not aware of the actual selling price. If you had a five day DL ticket that had cost $200 that is $40 per day. If you had used two days the remaining ticket value would be $120. You would have to purchase, at the very least, a two day base ticket (or a one day adult hopper) to use the $120 and your DL ticket would be cancelled.

Another thing to note is that Complimentary/Promotional Disneyland tickets have no value placed on them. Tickets donated by Disney for a fundraising event or to radio stations for promotions, only have value to be used to enter the parks but have no dollar value attached to them.

Thanks - I googled it and saw something very similar but it was kinda confusing and was from 2011. The tickets are in an envelope on display, so I couldn't actually see them. I didn't think about maybe being able to exchange them at DW until I was in the car (of course my head was spinning on ways I could make this work! lol)

No one has bid on them, so right now it's $100 for 4 park hoppers!

Hmm, I might be interested, but I'm guessing there's no way to tell if they have an expiration date?

Mmmmmmm....wondering about DL APs. I bought one expecting to make several return trips but never did. Any value at WDW?

If the AP has NEVER been used, I think you could get the value of that ticket in exchange at WDW.

But, since they generally don't "pro-rate" AP tickets, there's not a great way to determine "value" of a partially-used AP.

Tricky stuff!

Reading the OP's post brought to mind an episode of ' The Middle' when daughter Sue won a trip to Disney. The whole family drove from Indiana to Disney World only to be told that they had won a Disney LAND vacation. After much begging and pleading Mom, Frankie, finally got Disney management to let the family stay. Unlikely that this strategy would work well for the rest of us!:lmao:
