Hi all. I noticed that Splash is going to be down from May 17th-27th. We're there from the 15th-27th. We weren't planning on going to the parks until the 18th. Is DL's Splash the same as WDW? Should we make a special trip to ride it before it goes down or just do it at WDW when we go back? TIA!

It is always fun to compare the 2 rides, so that decision is totally up to you if you have time.

The ride layout is different then at WDW and the log boats are different too. At WDW you can have 2 people sitting side by side, where at DL its one person in front of the other.

Honestly if you find it a real want to compare the ride to WDW then I say go for it. But DL and WDW have other same but different layout rides, such as the Haunted Mansion, & Pirates. Walking around DL you will see things that you wont see at WDW and will be so wrapped up in that seeing one ride might not make a huge difference to you.

That is such an interesting point.... I never thought they were different, I always assumed they were the same! (I've only been to WDW though!) How cool... I'd totally love to see the differences!

Hmmm I didn't remember that DL splash Mt was 1 per row. Interesting. I've only gone once at 13 and have been to WDW WAY more.

The show scenes are more detailed at WDW and there seems to be a bit more of them. There are more small hills at WDW. Don't know if it is any longer or not.
The hill at Disneyland is more thrilling for some reason...might have to do with the way you sit in the log. I rode Disneyland's version a few times before going to WDW. I like the WDW better but they are both great. If you absolutely love Splash Mountain I would say go in and ride it while you can.

Hmm...I don't really like to get wet. I usually wear a poncho lol. Not sure if it's worth going into the parks for just htat one right. Ah, what to do, what to do?

If you go in May the weather will be nice and warm. You will dry out in under 20 minutes if you do get wet. Just dont sit in the front seat. Thats where your gonna get the most soaked. The Backseat, is not so bad I find. It also depends on the weight of the boat. The bigger the people, the bigger the waves. Then again the rides all have water gages that can be increased when the weather gets warmer. So definitely sit towards the back and hide behind someone HAHA!

The boats rush through the scenes at DL and you don't really get to see the layouts in my opinion. I don't like the seating at DL. The main part of getting wet on this ride is when you turn a corner. Water comes over the boat from the mid part to the back and your legs get soaked. My favorite ride at either of the two resorts is Splash Mtn at WDW but with that being said I love Disneyland better than WDW.

Agreed with all of that. I didn't really get the story line until riding the MK version, and much prefer that one. Seems longer, slower, and has the coherent story line. I think it's always interesting to compare rides between the two parks, but I don't think it's worth making the special effort the OP was asking about.

I prefer MK's Splash Mountain over DL's; in my opinion it's one of the very few MK attractions that is superior to its DL counterpart. However, I like the exterior (Chickapin Hill) of DL's Splash a lot more, I think it's prettier.

The side by side seating at MK is more comfortable, but daannzzz is right when he says DL's drops are more thrilling. It does have to do with the single row seating.

Every time I've been to Florida Splash Mountain has always been closed. (I go in January) So I can only say I like DL better. I Have been on both Space Mountains and I will say I like the DL version better as it is still far far smoother compared to the Florida version and even after the last update it is still smoother.

Disneyland vet here - went to WDW for the first time since Splash has been open this past Oct. While we liked WDW's splash better - probably due to the ride vehicles - DL is more thrilling. I believe I read somewhere that there is a 2 or 3 degree difference in the big hill (DL being slightly steeper) and that seems to make a ton of difference in the thrill factor.

I think we'll get up early, ride it and then continue on with our original plans for that first day. DH thinks we should do it. I never really even thought about the storyline probably because I remembered watching the cartoon on the Disney Channel way back when, so I already knew it. Should be fun comparing though. Thanks for the thoughts!

Isn't the very back seat in the logs a double so you can have someone between your legs? I usually always sit in the front so haven't really paid attention.

My almost 3 year-old is just tall enough to ride but if he has to sit alone, forget it!

The back seat is wide enough to sit side-by-side with a kiddo, not two adults I am sure, but we always sit in the back, with dd next to me, and hubby in front of us in the next seat!

The very back seat is a side-by-side, so you can sit next to your kiddo.

Great info!!! This makes all the difference to us. I was so disappointed to hear it was single seating, unlike in WDW. Now we can actually ride it with kiddo beside me.

I'm so excited, I'm 30, and about to watch the cartoon for the first time! My mom was cleaning out her sister's garage for her, and found the old VHS, and is forwarding it to me!

The one thing I DO NOT understand (and is different between the two) is when Brer Bear is caught in the rope trap, why, oh why, in Disneyland's version, is he holding his shirt and not wearing it? Last trip to wdw i made note- he was wearing his shirt. At DL, it is dangling in his hand.

And, for the record, I like Disneyland's version better. But wish we had a playground like WDW's. Of course, now my kids are all big enough, it doesn't matter!
